Our paper on sole marks, the world's most unloved sedimentary structures, is now formatted (a mere 65 pages!) and open access dx.doi.org/10.1111/sed.12727 Do not be afraid, it has wonderful figures, including a new Bouma Sequence diagram..
I don't like this place anymore and particularly its owner so am off to the other side where it seems I am almost the last to arrive... It was fun for a while!

What a cover image! (though I may be biased)

New paper by @mzakizulkifli in EPSL exploring what controls different types of erosion in submarine channels based on repeat seafloor surveys w @hyperpeaknal @ChannelWidth @sedimorph @MaartenHeijnen & co @NOCnews @NRCan @unisouthampton @DurUniEarthSci sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
A stunning image of FIDS from @KHwave. An example of 'dinosaur leather'. This has been quite the voyage of discovery! Sounds like quite a volume as well.
Watch out for the October issue of @JSedimentology, with a State of the Science paper on FIDS (stunning cover image by @hyperpeaknal ⬇️), and further papers on dolomite, microbes, submarine channels/canyons, deep lakes, point bars, and more. @sedimentology

Study leave 2024 - first field day in deep-marine Cloridorme Fm. FIDS, mud ripples and frondescent marks galore.
Our new State of the Science paper on sole structures - the catchily named Flow-induced Interfacial Deformation Structures (FIDS) is now out in Sedimentology: doi.org/10.1111/sed.13219
with @KHwave @Making_Ripples @stratleeds Paul Wignall and Piotr Lapcik. Here is a taster...
Part 2 of our planned Trilogy on sole marks is coming imminently. These largely forgotten structures provide us with lots of information on the flows that formed them! With @KHwave @Making_Ripples @stratleeds and more.
NEW PAPER ALERT: Continuing the reinvention of sole marks, and extending their use beyond palaeoflow reconstruction. Led by @hyperpeaknal and soon out in @JSedimentology.
Well worth a read! With the brilliant @Naughty_Onlaps and @stratleeds
Need to fill the time before the start of @IAS_Aberdeen ? Why not read ' Evolving fill-and-spill patterns across linked early post-rift depocentres control lobe characteristics: Los Molles Formation, Argentina'

I love this paper. Highlights huge opportunities for some far more detailed work on biology and sedimentology interaction in ocean floor channels. It is an almost unknown habitat!!

Beautiful work from Will Taylor here, showing that mud-rich bedforms can be found extensively in proximal locations in submarine systems!
