“If my own children ask me in the future, ‘Should we become IAS?’ I will directly advise them, ‘Don’t become IAS’.”
Sounds surprising coming from a senior IAS officer, doesn’t it?
But Maharashtra’s IAS officer Tukaram Mundhe reportedly has a deeply personal reason behind this advice.
In around 21 years of service, he has reportedly faced 25 transfers. Every move meant a new posting, a new city and another round of adjustments for his family.
And the biggest cost was often borne by those waiting for him at home.
His son had to change schools six times before reaching Class 5. Each transfer meant leaving behind familiar teachers, classmates and friendships, only to start again somewhere new.
His wife, too, had to repeatedly reorganise her life around sudden transfers.
Mundhe accepted these challenges as part of his professional journey. But he does not want his children to experience the same instability.
Instead, he would prefer them to explore entrepreneurship or public leadership — careers that could allow them to contribute to society with greater independence.
He has also encouraged Gen Z to look beyond conventional career paths, believing that young people have the knowledge, energy and ability to explore different opportunities.
A 2005-batch IAS officer who secured AIR 20 in UPSC CSE 2004, Mundhe continues to serve the administration. In May 2026, he took charge as Maharashtra’s FDA Commissioner, where he has acted against food safety violations and illegal activities.
His approach to governance remains firm: “Rules and regulations exist. We need an executive instrument to take them to stakeholders and implement them.”
Yet his reported advice to his own children reveals another side of public service — the sacrifices that rarely appear in official records.
💭 For an officer, a transfer may be another government order. For a child, it can mean another school, another goodbye and another fresh start.

From IIT Delhi to the Indian Police Service, Jaya Sharma's journey is a story of persistence, self-belief and overcoming the mental challenges of UPSC preparation! ✨
🎓 From a Haryana Village to IIT Delhi
Born in Barwa village of Hisar, Haryana, Jaya studied at IIT Delhi and worked on a research project linked to ISRO.
But academic excellence did not make her UPSC journey easy.
💔 Two Prelims Failures and Emotional Struggles
Despite her achievements, she faced anxiety, overthinking and self-doubt during preparation.
“I would say it wasn’t a very smooth path; I faced numerous mental and emotional challenges along the way,” she recalled in an interview with Vision IAS.
🏅 First DSP, Then IPS!
After failing UPSC Prelims twice, Jaya cleared the HPSC examination with Rank 8 and became a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Haryana.
She continued preparing while serving in the police.
Her persistence paid off in UPSC CSE 2023, when she secured AIR 248! 🎯
She joined the 2024 IPS batch, received the Andhra Pradesh cadre and is currently serving as ASP in Adoni, Kurnool district.
📖 She Turned Her Struggles into a Book!
Jaya authored Practical Mental Strategies to Win UPSC Battle, focusing on the emotional challenges faced by aspirants.
Its first chapter, “Being Kind to Oneself,” encourages aspirants to stop excessive self-criticism and recognise the importance of rest.

💔 “The Death of KNG22 Broke the Heart…” IFS Officer’s Emotional Appeal After Young Cheetah Is Shot Dead 🐆
The death of KNG22, a 19-month-old cheetah at Kuno National Park, has left wildlife conservationists grieving and raised serious concerns about the safety of India’s cheetahs.
For Uttam Kumar Sharma, IFS officer and Field Director at Kuno, the loss is deeply personal.
💔 A Young Life Lost to Gunfire
KNG22, the offspring of female cheetah Nirva, was found critically injured in the forests of Morena on October 25, outside Kuno National Park.
During emergency surgery, veterinarians recovered five firearm pellets from his body. Despite intensive treatment, the young cheetah died on October 27.
The incident is the first reported case of a cheetah being fatally shot since Project Cheetah began in September 2022.
🚨 Investigation Underway
Madhya Pradesh has formed a Special Task Force comprising forest and police personnel.
The Centre has also deputed a high-level team from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau to investigate the incident and review security and monitoring arrangements.
🌿 An Emotional Appeal for Coexistence
Sharing his grief on X, IFS officer Uttam Kumar Sharma urged people living around the Kuno landscape to become partners in conservation.
He drew attention to how people in Gujarat have learned to live alongside lions, calling for a similar sense of pride and responsibility towards cheetahs.
His message was clear: India’s cheetah reintroduction journey belongs to everyone—not just forest officials.
🐆 Beyond the Investigation
As authorities investigate KNG22’s death, a bigger question remains: How can people and cheetahs coexist safely when these animals move beyond protected forests?
Protecting wildlife requires stronger security, effective monitoring and the support of local communities.
💚 Conservation succeeds when people stand with wildlife—not against it.

👮♀️ Daughter of a Constable, UPSC AIR 466 at 22: IPS Preeti Yadav Becomes Noida’s First Woman DCP of Zone 1! 🇮🇳
“I looked up to my father, who started his career as a constable.”
For IPS officer Preeti Yadav, her father’s journey in the police force became the inspiration behind her own dream of serving the public. Today, she is making history in Uttar Pradesh policing! ✨
🎓 A Brilliant Student with a Clear Goal
A native of Haryana, Preeti scored 96.2% in her Class 12 humanities examination and later won a gold medal in Geography during her graduation.
Determined to pursue the civil services, she reportedly left her master’s degree midway to focus on UPSC preparation.
Her hard work paid off in UPSC CSE 2018, when she secured AIR 466. At just 22, she joined the Indian Police Service.
🚔 Making a Difference in Saharanpur
During her first posting as Assistant Superintendent of Police in Saharanpur, she focused on women’s safety and initiatives to strengthen police-public engagement.
One standout effort was transforming an old café at the police lines into “Bailout – The Police Café”, a space designed to bring police personnel and members of the public together.
🛡️ Women’s Safety Remains a Priority
She was later transferred to the Noida Commissionerate, where women’s safety continued to be an important part of her work. Beyond policing, she also has a keen interest in art.
🌟 A New Milestone!
Preeti Yadav has now been appointed the first woman Deputy Commissioner of Police of Noida Zone 1.
From drawing inspiration from her constable father to taking charge of a key policing zone, her journey reflects ambition, dedication and a commitment to public service.

🚨 Why Are IAS, IPS & IFS Officers Leaving Uttarakhand Service Before Retirement? 🇮🇳
From forest conservation to policing and administration, several civil servants in Uttarakhand have sought or taken voluntary retirement before completing their tenures.
But what is prompting experienced officers to walk away from government service early?
🌳 Latest Case: IFS Officer Saket Badola
The latest case is Saket Badola, the 2008-batch IFS officer and Director of Corbett Tiger Reserve.
In October 2026, he announced his decision to seek VRS, citing personal reasons, despite having around 11 years of service remaining.
⚖️ Other Forest Officers Who Left Early
Manoj Chandran applied for VRS in October 2024 amid departmental proceedings that he disputed.
In June 2025, Dhananjai Mohan, former head of Uttarakhand's Forest Department, opted for voluntary retirement just two months before his scheduled retirement, citing personal reasons.
Other forest officers, including B. D. Singh, have also opted for early retirement.
🏛️ The Trend Extends Beyond the Forest Department
Former IAS officers Umakant Panwar, Manisha Panwar and Rakesh Kumar left service early. BVRC Purushottam also sought VRS, citing family reasons.
IPS officers, including V. Vinay Kumar, Asim Srivastava and Rachita Juyal, have also been associated with premature retirement.
🔎 What Is Driving These Decisions?
The reasons vary, ranging from family responsibilities and health concerns to administrative circumstances and opportunities outside government service. Some former officers have also pursued other public roles.
⚠️ Why Does It Matter?
Experienced officers play vital roles in governance, policing, wildlife conservation and forest protection. Their early departure can create vacancies and lead to a loss of institutional experience.
However, these individual cases alone do not prove that VRS is becoming more frequent. Long-term official data would be needed to establish a rising trend.
❓ The Bigger Question: Are these individual career decisions—or signs of deeper challenges in retaining experienced civil servants?

🚨 151 Trainee IPS Officers to Join Home Ministry Before Cadre Training in First-of-Its-Kind Move! 🇮🇳
In a new development in IPS training, 151 trainee officers from the 2025 batch will be attached to the Union Home Ministry before proceeding to their respective cadres for further training.
👮 What Makes This Move Different?
The officers belong to the 78th Regular Recruit (78RR) batch and have completed the first phase of training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
The group also includes 16 foreign officers from neighbouring countries.
Earlier, trainee IPS officers would proceed directly to their allotted cadres after completing academy training. Under the new arrangement, they will first be attached to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
🏛️ Integration Ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan
According to reports citing officials, a ceremony to integrate the batch with the MHA was scheduled at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday.
The batch's passing-out parade took place on October 17.
At the event, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan conveyed a message from Home Minister Amit Shah emphasising zero tolerance towards terrorism, timely action and stronger coordination among intelligence agencies.
📋 What Do the Existing Guidelines Say?
The MHA's 2023 IPS training guidelines provide for further training in an officer's allotted state after academy training. The Central Government determines the duration in consultation with the state government.
❓ What Is the Purpose of the New Arrangement?
While the attachment marks a change in the traditional training sequence, officials have not yet explained its specific objective or how it will benefit the trainee officers.
The key question now is whether this new step will become a regular part of IPS training in the coming batches.

🔥 Failed Social Studies in Class 8, Struggled at NIT, Cracked UPSC on 4th Attempt! Meet IA&AS Officer Lokesh Datal 🇮🇳
From failing Social Studies in Class 8 to becoming an Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) officer, Lokesh Datal's journey proves that discipline can achieve what motivation alone cannot! 💪
📚 An Average Student with Extraordinary Determination
Lokesh was better at sports than academics. An introvert who struggled with public speaking, he never imagined joining the civil services.
Even at NIT Tiruchirappalli, he struggled academically and had to appear for supplementary examinations in several semesters.
🥋 Karate Changed His Mindset!
College introduced him to karate. Through injuries, defeats and relentless practice, he earned a black belt and discovered a powerful lesson:
“Discipline is not about doing something when you feel like it; it is about showing up even when you don’t.”
🎯 Three Failures, One Breakthrough!
Just a week before joining his campus job, Lokesh decided to pursue UPSC instead.
His first three attempts ended unsuccessfully. Self-doubt followed, but he refused to give up.
On his fourth attempt, he finally cleared UPSC! 🎉
📖 His Advice to UPSC Aspirants
Keep resources limited, revise repeatedly, practise answer writing, analyse mistakes, protect your health and remain consistent.
For Lokesh, even morning workouts are about mental strength rather than muscles.
✨ His Message to Every Aspirant:
“I failed social studies in Class 8, struggled through engineering and did not clear this exam until my fourth attempt. If I could make it, so can you.”
💯 Motivation may fade, but discipline keeps you moving!

😂🏛️ 12 Types of Bureaucrats Exposed Through Cartoons! Cabinet Secretary T. V. Somanathan Sends a Message
What if cartoons could teach India’s top bureaucrats a lesson in good governance?
At a meeting with senior government secretaries, Cabinet Secretary IAS T. V. Somanathan reportedly used humour and cartoons to highlight 12 types of bureaucratic behaviour that can slow down government work.
📂 The habits under scrutiny?
Some officers throw files or speak rudely to staff. Others let files pile up instead of taking timely decisions.
Some refer matters to ministers despite having the authority to decide themselves. Others schedule late-night meetings or summon staff on weekends without respecting their personal time.
The presentation also addressed inappropriate behaviour towards women colleagues and the importance of professional boundaries.
🎨 Several illustrations reportedly drew on the work of legendary cartoonist R. K. Laxman, whose cartoons captured the ironies of Indian public life.
⚠️ But the message was serious.
Delays, misuse of authority and disrespectful workplace behaviour can undermine administrative efficiency.
Somanathan also reportedly highlighted a weakness in performance assessments: when most officers receive similarly high scores, it becomes difficult to identify truly exceptional performers.
🚀 Beyond Bureaucratic Behaviour
The meeting also discussed faster consultations between Union ministries, better coordination and Deregulation 3.0, expected to begin in January 2027 to reduce red tape and simplify compliance.
Another issue reportedly involved around one lakh railway employees holding ration cards under the free foodgrain scheme. The Railway Board Chairman was directed to ensure that those concerned surrender their cards.
💡 The bigger lesson?
Good governance is not just about policies and rules. It also depends on how officers make decisions, treat colleagues and use their authority.
Sometimes, a cartoon can deliver a message that a lengthy lecture cannot! 🇮🇳

❤️👩👦 A Toddler in Her Arms, a Village’s Responsibilities on Her Shoulders!
For Sandhya Sharma, a Patwari in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, motherhood and public service go hand in hand.
While many parents struggle to balance work and childcare, Sandhya continues her field duties under the Swamitva Yojana, travelling from village to village, visiting homes and completing official work—with her two-year-old son accompanying her. 🇮🇳
🏡 Duty Doesn't Stop at the Doorstep
Her work involves visiting villages and carrying out responsibilities under the government's ownership scheme. And sometimes, that means bringing her little one along as she fulfils her duties.
Her dedication caught the attention of Shivpuri Collector IAS Arpit Verma, who praised her commitment to both her profession and motherhood.
💬 He wrote:
“With a two-year-old tiny child in her lap and the responsibilities of the government's ownership scheme, the dedication with which she is fulfilling both roles is truly inspiring.”
🌸 A Story Many Working Mothers Understand
Sandhya's story goes beyond one employee's dedication. It highlights the daily balancing act faced by working mothers, who often manage professional responsibilities alongside childcare.
There are no easy shortcuts when both roles demand time, attention and care.
✨ Her journey is a reminder that behind public services are people who work hard to keep them running—even while navigating responsibilities of their own.

❤️ When a 90-Year-Old Woman Couldn't Climb the Stairs, This IAS Officer Came Down to Hear Her Complaint!
Sometimes, good governance is not about big announcements. It is about small gestures that make people feel heard. 🙏
In Bihar's Aurangabad, District Magistrate Abhilasha Sharma demonstrated this when a 90-year-old woman arrived at the Collectorate seeking help.
👵 An Elderly Woman's Struggle
Devbadan Devi had come with her husband to raise a land-related grievance.
But because of her age, she couldn't climb the stairs to reach the DM's office. The elderly couple waited outside.
When IAS officer Abhilasha Sharma learned about their situation, she stepped out to meet them herself.
💬 An Emotional Appeal
Devbadan Devi became emotional while explaining that land received from her maternal family had allegedly been transferred to her grandson without her knowledge or consent.
The DM patiently listened, consoled her and directed officials to conduct a fair investigation and resolve the complaint promptly.
The outcome remains subject to investigation, but the gesture highlighted the importance of accessible administration.
👩💼 Who Is IAS Abhilasha Sharma?
A 2017-batch IAS officer, she secured AIR 68 in UPSC CSE 2016.
She holds a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication from MDU Rohtak and an M.A. in Public Management from JNU, New Delhi.
Today, she serves as the District Magistrate of Aurangabad, Bihar.
✨ A Simple Gesture, A Powerful Message
For elderly citizens, even climbing a staircase can become a barrier to seeking justice.
By stepping outside her office, the DM ensured that this woman's complaint was heard.
Because public service begins with listening, and good governance must remain accessible to everyone. 🇮🇳
