Devices with older versions of iOS 18 will receive an additional alert to install a Critical Security Update. We enabled the availability of iOS 18.7.7 for more devices on April 1, 2026, so users with Automatic Updates turned on can automatically receive important security protections from web attacks called DarkSword. The fixes associated with the DarkSword exploit first shipped in 2025.

Quick tip. If you are using iOS 26.4 betas you will see a very large update. But if you turn off the beta, the update size for iOS 26.4 decreases dramatically so you can save some time.

PSA: Apple messed up the rollout of Rosetta 26 beta 3 which is causing Apple Silicon devices to not get this beta. Apple will need to fix this server-sided issue before you can install this beta. (Intel Macs should be able to update without issue)
