i finally got around to finishing The Poet Empress by Shen Tao. i am speechless. words cant begin to articulate how SOLID the writing is (imo at least). im a sucker for complex characters and this book gave me exactly those! such an attention-gripping narrative. please read it.

about the "first person",,like yes i personally prefer reading in third person, but some of y'all really just bash first person narratives for no reason other than "its rooted in cringe". i've read plenty of books written in first person that are very beautifully written
