Uhm does anyone know how I can actually get the soft scroll edge effect on iOS 27? I tried .scrollEdgeEffect(.soft, for: .all) in multiple places, but this simply disabled the hard effect without bringing the soft one back… And it doesn’t even work everywhere either

I wonder if they changed the default edge effect to .hard because they were incapable of getting .soft to work on apps built with the iOS 26 SDK. The soft style does not work as of 27.0 Public and 27.2 Beta...

Let's try this again. Hopefully this week's beta removes this hideous hard edge. We already have progressive blur behind it, all it takes is removing that gray bar

Fixed in iOS 27.2, iOS 26 apps that manually set the effect to .soft now render correctly 🎉 Still extremely annoyed at .automatic now defaulting to .hard though, and .soft still doesn't work in all cases that it did before

About half of the time it opens up in this weird in-between state (bottom is in one handed mode, the rest isn’t). It then switches to being completely one handed after you start typing. The letters on the edge are also too hard to hit without leaving one handed mode accidentally

You know how people always say "German has a word for this" because we have a single word to equivalent to multiple words in english? The opposite can also be true, German doesn't have a verb for "to squint" (translates to "die Augen zusammenkneifen")

Nice, HomeView will not be available in the EU. Interesting, since Apple definitely doesn't have a monopoly on smart home, so they probably could allow Siri AI there. But maybe this thing runs a fork of iOS

The fact that YouTube videos start playing on Mute since the last update is absolutely infuriating. I always have to change volume or manually unmute them to get sound, whenever I re-open the app. And of course this doesn't affect ads, they are unmuted by default… @TeamYouTube

Great, now they removed the unmute button without changing this behavior. To get any sound on YouTube after launching the app, you have to increase/decrease the volume… it's evolving, just backwards

The YouTube app keeps getting worse. I just discovered that it sent one of my comments onto a different video than the one I commented on. How does shit like that even happen

In Germany, you can currently buy Apple Watch Series 9 41mm starting at 433€. The cheapest Series 12 42mm is currently 425€. I just don't understand how Apple Watches pretty much don't fall in price at all here. How is S12 cheaper than S9, which is 3 years old?

Goddamnit, looks like Apple has been aware of the issue for months and decided to do NOTHING to fix it. This seems to affect all apps built with the iOS 26 SDK that manually set the scroll edge effect to soft. developer.apple.com/forums/t…

This is so fucking annoying. Yes, the physical sizes are somewhat similar, but it just looks so much worse. Why make the glass extend further into the frame when you can't put the display behind it? This is such a huge visual downgrade.
