ALT PRESS ADVISORY For Immediate Release July 8, 2025 “Monopoly Man” To Thank FTC Leaders In Person for Their Laser Focus on Children's Gender Identities WHERE: Outside Constitution Center, 400 7th Street, Southwest (location of Federal Trade Commission workshop) WHEN: Wednesday, July 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. WHAT: Wednesday’s FTC workshop will platform disinformation advocates who intentionally mislead the public on the supposed “Dangers of ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ for Minors.” In response, the activist known for viral appearances as the Monopoly Man will appear outside the venue to greet event speakers and agency officials. As a trans person themself, Ian Madrigal is currently in production on a documentary film centered on their own 1990s trans childhood. In character as Monopoly Man, Madrigal will perform playful street theater to highlight the absurdity of the FTC abandoning its Congressional mandate to undermine the safety and efficacy of medical care for transgender youth.

ALT In addition to thanking Chairman Ferguson and senior FTC leaders for their personal dedication to exploring children's gender identities, Monopoly Man will take the opportunity to make a quick buck committing corporate crimes while top FTC officials are distracted. He will auction off binders full of sensitive personal information to fellow oligarchs and passersby, look for partners with whom to fix prices or wages, buy off drug manufacturers to kill generic competition, and pay off President Trump's family with a giant novelty check to get mergers approved. Will he literally throw a worker or small businessperson under a bus? Show up to find out! WHY: “I am elated by FTC Chairman Ferguson’s laser focus on children's gender identities rather than his congressional mandate to police monopolists like myself,” said Monopoly Man. “With senior FTC leadership tied up in a daylong workshop about this most pressing issue, consumer protections will just have to wait for another day. Huzzah!”
