A pressure-light, osmosis-forward parenting approach. So far, so good. College still not getting cheaper

come work with Jake, come tolerate me if you like hockey and like to build, this is an incredibly impactful role and it would be great to hear from you!

Both baby gate fencing and college tuition have risen to exorbitant levels in recent years. 📈 The Plan? Fence the baby in with an activity center that doubles as a training ground for a potential sporting scholarship

This was a self indulgent purchase that will end up in the basement by Monday (sooner if I break something) but she likes waving around the stick so, as they say, it’s a situation to watch

Absolutely perplexed that her glove hand let her down. No worse feeling as a father, not being able to help her

A few house-keeping notes: I had to retire the Range Hockey account abruptly post All-Star break. Would’ve given the heads up but external factors got in the way, so apologies. Plus couldn’t catch Dom, so basically pulled the plug on the Xbox (but was on fire last week, so..)

I've removed Range Hockey from the leader board, but you can still choose your model in the Model Cards.

(tying everything together) a favorite recent book of mine was Range by @DavidEpstein. Cross disciplinary thinking and experiences are invaluable. The prodigy narrative is wonderful but not necessarily reflective of the majority of peoples experiences

If you’re passionate about something and you haven’t got there yet, it’s cool. Enjoy/embrace where your feet are and remember you might learn something that you will be able to use in the future. There’s no set course or timeline

To all of the teachers that said I would never make the NHL and that I should work hard in school instead... look, you were obviously right, BUT I wasn't completely wrong

Honestly, I'm really appreciative of the opportunity to join the @NHLFlyers organization, it still hasn't hit me I'll get to do this for a living. I'm thankful for so many people, conferences ops, & conversations along the way, and I'll work through texts and DMs as soon as I can

And considering the medium, I'm really thankful for the support and interest of people through the analytics community. It's still wild you can just start messing around with hockey data on the internet, learn on the go, and parlay that in an opportunity to work in the NHL

It’s important to give the same attention those at the bottom of your roster as those at the top. The games are won on the margins and you never know when a role player will be the difference-maker/save the family from a malicious delivery person -Coaching Proverb
