at some point we decided numbers had to mean something. that tables were supposed to organize information. rows, columns, cells, everything in its place. but the machine doesn't know what a number is. it doesn't know what it's counting. it just follows instructions. we've built an entire civilization around the assumption that putting things in a grid makes them understandable. numbers without quantities. tables without information. data that has forgotten what it was supposed to represent. the contents start organizing the structure that was supposed to organize the contents.
