Elon gave his own companies less than a 10% chance of surviving.
SpaceX: "I thought we had maybe a 10% chance of even getting to orbit."
Tesla: he expected it to most likely fail.
He did both anyway.
2008 was the proof:
Falcon 1 failed. Then failed again. Then a third time.
He had money left for one more launch.
Tesla was weeks from bankruptcy. The financial crisis hit. His marriage ended.
Sept 28, 2008: the 4th Falcon 1 reached orbit, the first privately developed liquid-fuel rocket to do it.
Dec 23: NASA awarded SpaceX a $1.6B contract.
Dec 24: Tesla's funding round closed hours before the money ran out.
Today SpaceX launches most of the world's mass to orbit, and Tesla is the most valuable carmaker on Earth.
The lesson for every young person isn't "Elon was lucky."
He knew the odds were terrible and went anyway, because the goal mattered more than the risk.
His words: "If something is important enough, even if the odds are against you, you should still do it."
Most people wait for good odds.
The future gets built by the ones who don't.
We are witnessing a hostile takeover of the Democrat Party by communists and Islamists.
Mamdani wants to seize the means of production. Abdul El-Sayed, or as I like to call him, the jihadist leprechaun (although I got a cease-and-desist order from the Irish American Society), says he has an obligation to follow Sharia law.
When somebody tells you who they are, believe them.

Before Hollywood, I was living in a van in Hawaii and waiting tables at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. One day, the incredible Rae Dawn Chong walked into the restaurant, and naturally, I went up to her table and said, “Hey, you’re a movie star! What are you doing here?”
She asked if I could act, and I said, “Fuck yeah, put me in your movie!”
She asked for my phone number. The only problem was I didn’t have one. So I gave her my buddy Mike’s number instead. A couple days later, Mike casually mentions, “Oh, by the way, someone called you.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MIKE?!
I called her back, and sure enough, she was serious. I drove over to pick up the script, went back to Mike’s house, and read all 120 pages three times in a row. First script I’d ever read. My character's name was Devon, and I remember thinking, “Sweet! I could totally play a Devon!”
I showed up to the audition with every line and inflection mapped out in pencil. Rae told me I could act and offered me the part. I asked if we were shooting in Hawaii. Nope. Los Angeles.
I had about $60 to my name, a bag of clothes, and some rollerblades.
Then Rae told me they'd fly me out. And I remember thinking right then and there, my life just changed forever. I'm going to be an actor.
That little movie was Cursed Part 3, a low-budget horror comedy that opened the door to Hollywood for me.
I'll forever be grateful to Rae for taking a chance on a kid working at a shrimp restaurant. Everybody starts somewhere, and this is where it all began for me.

Researchers at Shionogi developed S-880008, a nasal antiviral that locks SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins to prevent cell fusion.
It blocked multiple variants and achieved 100% survival in treated mice at certain doses.
Human trials are still needed.

I built a million unit / month smartphone operation in the US. @PalmerLuckey is correct.
It does not cost what these people who have never built anything before say it costs. Not even close.
Palmer Luckey says analysts claiming it's too expensive to manufacture in the US are lying to protect megacorps
"I think I have a more realistic view than almost anybody. One of the problems with all these analysts that are telling you that it's going to cost $37,000 to build an American iPhone or $100,000 to buy an American computer."
"They're trying to prop up a status quo that the megacorporations want to keep going. They want to outsource everything. They want to hire cheaper non-American labor."
"They are willing to say and do anything to convince you that it can't be fixed, that it can't come back, that America is this helpless, neutered, post-relevant empire, and it is just not the case."
"How do I know that? Because I have to make stuff in America every day because I work in the defense industry. The stuff that Anduril makes every day is not actually that different from a computer. My drones are basically computers. They have memory, a GPU, a CPU, sensors, batteries, a rugged integration."
"The only difference between an Anduril attack drone and a laptop is a keyboard and a screen. That is not that hard to figure out, especially for a guy like me who started Oculus and comes from the consumer electronics space."
"We're not going to let people lie about what America can and can't do anymore. We're just going to do it."

this might be my last normal tweet before biotech goes vertical
i'm not a whistleblower. I don't work at Lilly, Novo or any of the big labs
but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now.
it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them
the last 6 months alone:
- a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months)
- a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months
- a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year
- a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3
- retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3
- an ai-designed drug entered phase 3
- a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3
- an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved
- a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney
- human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave
we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday
stick around, it's going to get weird

The American left trained me for a generation to be a political activist and operative.
They absolutely LOVED me when I was on their side because I was EFFECTIVE. 30 years of experience and training, plus being an attorney? The American left loved it.
Now they want to vilify me because not only did I walk away from the Democratic Party, I walked away from trans.
I used to be their golden child. Now I’m their ultimate apostate.
When I speak about the American left and Democratic Party being corrupt and infiltrated by trans, I’m speaking from experience. I’m speaking because I was sitting in those meetings and rooms living it and watching it become captured.
I didn’t just read about politics on the internet either. I graduated from college with honors with a degree in political science.
I’m well read with a generation of real life political experience. You can attack and defame me all day, but I will be taking my time, training, talents, and energy elsewhere.
I will be taking all of that and fighting the very thing that took a generation of my young life.
They want to silence me so badly 🤣

Tesla and lemonade insurance give FSD discounts. I bet the other carriers will end up following suit at some point in the future.
Replying to @RonDeSantis
i wish they would realise how much their liability is reduced by me using FSD. and reflect that in my rates.
Rough estimates based on current data:
Waymo (~4,000 deployed vehicles, 500k+ paid rides/week at ~$15 avg): ~$390-500M annual run rate.
Tesla Robotaxi (~1,080 Texas-registered, ~400-600 active; ~560k driverless miles/week at ~$3.50-4.50/mi): ~$100-150M annual run rate.
Tesla is ramping faster on lower fares and shorter trips; Waymo has scale but slower growth. Numbers are approximate as neither discloses exact paid rides or utilization.

Worst. Apartheid. Ever.
They called it apartheid. The ballot box called them liars. Arab and Muslim parties are winning 17 seats in Israel’s parliament, the Knesset. Arab turnout was above 70% in town after town. Wait, I thought Zionists were racist, so how come these “racists” are giving parliamentary seats to Arabs and Muslims, who, in turn, came out to vote? Some villages hit 90% turnout.
They democratically participated and voted in a Zionist democratic system they believe in?
Arabs now hold about 14% of Israel’s parliament. Muslim MPs hold about 4% of Britain’s. Odd kind of apartheid, where the “oppressed” vote harder than London does.

Verizon's CEO said today that SpaceX will need at least 4-6 years and $300B-$500B to fully build out its @Starlink Mobile U.S. carrier network:
"Their service just can't compete with a terrestrial network. In suburban and urban areas, where 98% of our revenues are, we're somewhere between 100x–1,000x more efficient than they are. We know exactly what they're going to do. We know who they're talking to on towers. There's no magic wand. There's no secret sauce. There's no shortcut.
They're going to look at 65,000–80,000 macro sites. They're going to need backhaul, RAN, and a tremendous amount of spectrum. It's going to take a minimum of four to six years to fully build that out. It's going to cost hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars, I assume somewhere between $300 billion and $500 billion.
Then they need to build retail, customer service, back office systems, et cetera. All of that gets them basically the same network and same capabilities and same cost structure as what we have today. Then sometime over the next four to six years, they have the possibility of becoming the sixth, not the fourth, the sixth competitor in the market.
You can be sure over these next three to five years or six years, we are not going to be standing still. Four to five years from now, we will be two to three generations better than where we are today. We will have high-speed broadband gig-plus coverage across the country with our millimeter wave. We are ahead of most people and already experimenting with what 6G applications will look like."
