An intelligent system is a computational system which may reduce computational complexity (for at least some problems) in a logarithmic time, and this result is provable in DTIME. NB: not all humans posses intelligence under that definition; however at least some of them were proven to (genii and inventors). At the same time none of LLMs or “artificial intelligence” system had ever demonstrated such qualities. Thus, a test of this sort is more strong test for a machine (super)intelligence than the Turing test. NB2: we do not know whether an intelligence requires non-deterministic universal computer or not; but it may be assumed that it does.

Nine years ago we wrote The Free AI Manifesto #FreeAI. We were nine years ahead of time. thefree.ai
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. You can read the full post here: darioamodei.com/post/we-must…

The problems of provable (formally-verifiable) program safety and determinism became crucial in the age of modern LLMs. I am developing #AluVM and @CationLang as a constructionist and ultrafinitist tool: in each type is a finite set of constructable objects; so there is type N8 made of all natural numbers (0 is not natural!) in range 1-256 included, N16, N32 and N64. There are integers of the same sort (0 included), I8, I16, I32 etc. There are no floating-point numbers, only rationals (in the Norman Wildberger @n_wildberger style), no sine/cosine - only rational trigonometry. Integers are pairs of numbers, not just “unsigned with a sign bit”, rationals are pairs of integers (i.e. quadriples of numbers). It uses dependent types (calculus of constructs), but restricts to finite types only. All functions are total, the termination analysis proves that. There is no recursion which can’t be reduced to a provable-terminating computation at compile-time. This gives a language and computational system which is formally analyzable at compile-time, by its structure.additionally to that, a binary compiled code is also formally analyzable and has a verifiable properties.

π is a limit to which converges the multiplicative factor of how much an orthogonal degree of freedom contributes to the total number of reachable states. This is the reason it appears in the normal distribution, geometry and Shroedinger equations: they are all about probability of path distribution over lattices with independent degrees of freedom. As a limit (and any other irrational number), π represents non-halting computation. In this sense “it does not exist”. But its approximations do exist, and given the Universe discreteness, any specific case is always a finite-precision π approximation.
I’ve been thinking on what the natural irrational constants like π, e are actually mean First, I understood that they (as all irrational numbers) represent non-halting computations, not numbers. But what input produces these specific constants? Today I have the first answer. Euler’s constant e is the boundary of recursive processes which separates convergent recursion from divergent. The boundary is non-computable by itself, since it is the start of non-convergent recursion.

What it takes to develop a Cation-type language
Writing compiler is the trivial part. Weeks, without any LMMs. Designing a language is the most complex part. Not something delegatable to LLMs (unless you want a shitty language). Takes years. One needs to study most of existing languages - and to the most of proficiency. Think deeply on computer science theory, even advance it in some spaces. Heavily invest into studying abstract mathematics like category theory, type theory, intuitionistic logic. Re-iterate hundreds of time. This just can’t be speeded up. Then, once you have a compiler, you have to build a standard library and core ecosystem of libraries. Again years and not delegatable to LLMs (there is nothing written in the new language to train them on). So decade(s), even in the age of shitty LLMs we are living in.

This is what we are brewing
I have spent a lot of my time over the last two years designing a programming language which allows to (relatively easy) write a correct by construction code, i.e a code which formally verifies itself and does a lot of logic at compile time. The language is called cation @CationLang, which is a feneric programming language. Its dialect Contractum is made for smart contracts running @UVioletAI (RGB successor and superset). You may think of it as Lean 4, but able to do what you usually do with Zig. The new age of vulnerability discoveries highlights the importance of such language. Human programming is still at the amateur stage, and we need a new generation of tools to write software which is provably safe.

There are technological/engineering leaps which humanity tries to take for decades - and fails. These are: thermonuclear synthesis, biological death, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. When I was young, professors at my school had a joke that “we are always 40 years from thermonuclear synthesis”. And here we are, 30 years later: we are still there. My take: the tech progress is not linear nor exponential. As all of things in nature, which looks exponential, it is in fact a sigmoid curve: exponential decline towards some horizontal asymptote follows the exponential growth (like the one which makes futurists believe we will have singularity next decade). A leap in tech progress - a new phase of exponential growth - requires scientific breakthroughs, the scale of which we had with relativity, quantum mechanics, quantum field theory and standard model last century. Yet those were enough to build modern world - but they are insufficient for getting quantum computers, artificial intelligence, thermonuclear synthesis and solving biological death. Another leap is required. How we want to achieve quantum computing, when nobody understands why the quantum world works the way it is? How achieve artificial intelligence having no consensus on what intelligence is? How to achieve thermonuclear synthesis when can’t explain mechanism of mass-to-gravity at quantum level? How to solve death puzzle when no mathematical model for aging exists? Modern physics need to be rebuild on modern mathematics and computer science, with category theory, no infinities, continuities, calculus etc from past ages. (This is so funny to see engineers work on thermonuclear reactors when they still use Gibbs differential geometry for electrodynamics, instead of geometric calculus). Modern cognitive science has to be rebuild-invented, with no anthropocentrism and wokism. Etc. There would be genii, who will do that. Some forerunners for them are already here (Wolfram, Deutch). But I am sure that at the end of the days those future genii will end up like Gallileo, Bruno, Tesla, Turing, Korolev… pretty much each genius of the past, cancelled, and killed by the collectivist humanity. Thus, I promise: whatever breakthrough I can personally achieve, I will not share it with the crowd and humans. If I will uncover the secrets of intelligence (which I think I really close to), I’d better build a new non-human individuals which will take the stars, than repeat mistakes of Tesla/Turing and others. I take Johns Galt stance: Fuck you, humanity.

Our friends from @nodl_it organized a great event during the #BH2025, where we were proud to give a talk on the sovereignty and how our products we build in @pandoraprime_ch and @indcs_org help achieving it
many thanks to @_polto_ @beBOPcommunity @dr_orlovsky @dr_ukolova for their presence and guest presentations at the first nodl day! Hopefully there will be many others to come! presentations will be available online soon and we’ll also be repeating the announcements here

BREAKING: Apple just proved AI "reasoning" models like Claude, DeepSeek-R1, and o3-mini don't actually reason at all. They just memorize patterns really well. Here's what Apple discovered: (hint: we're not as close to AGI as the hype suggests)

A very important step to the greater privacy
LNP/BP Standards Association announces RGB version 0.12 with the release candidate 1. As of today, it is the most tested and robust version. Over the last half of the year, we have brought zk-STARK readiness to the RGB (making it "zk-STARKy"), a huge performance boost, and a lot of simplification and security improvements. The release candidate is for all developers working with RGB, so they can integrate it into their software.

Solving the problem of aging and age-related death means stopping evolution and cancelling on biological adaptivity - which is fine if we have a higher-order adaptivity. However, it might take an unbounded number of computation to solve it, and whether a solution exists is an undecidable problem.
