We gave the Times the chance to do the right thing yesterday. Instead, they’re going with an argument that basically boils down to: *We randomly produced our first ever plume model about the exact same incident that Hunterbrook exposed with a plume model *We randomly took a lead photo of the exact same home on the exact same street *We randomly interviewed the same expert Etc. They wrote a great story. Obviously, we care about the subject deeply. It’s just a huge bummer for our team and the reporters who worked relentlessly on these stories.

Breaking: Several sections of @NYTimes front page story today mirror two earlier Hunterbrook investigations — without attribution.  Images. Methods. Sources. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?

Nepal bet its future on its rivers. Recent floods show the risk. Deep reporting by @subeksha on how recent natural disasters have exposed how a rush to build hydropower is outpacing safety, oversight, and the changing Himalayas For Kantipur One premium readers, this week’s exclusive reporting in both Nepali and English: ekantipur.com/news/2026/10/1…

Today, a landslide in the Gorkha district of Nepal blocked the Budhi Gandaki River and caused flooding downstream. Authorities have urged villagers to move to safer places. Several houses, two suspension bridges and a hydropower project were damaged but no casualties have been reported so far. In August, writer Pranaya Rana (@inkthink) and his friends left Kathmandu at 5 am for a pilgrimage to Gosainkunda. The flood from Langtang Lirung came down the Trishuli about an hour behind them. In this piece, he writes about what it means to live in a country where disaster can arrive without warning, and where, in his words, the next time “it could be me.”: himalmag.com/nepal-flood-cli…

It was funny when this Anne Carson poem got posted on here and people got mad at her because it didn't match their own experience of Saturday night as an adult

Their shine may have dulled a bit over the past six months, but Shah and his government remain broadly popular, even as many of their actions draw criticism. This week, we take a closer look on what has the Balen government accomplished in six months. api.omarshehata.me/substack-…

A roll made the news today. A video of Rahul Gandhi eating one during the Delhi protest went viral, and the internet did what it does. We don't know what kind of roll it was. But no time is a bad time to revisit the story of India's famous kathi roll. Thread 1/13

Birds of Indian Embassy (@IndiainNepal): The series continues with Grey Headed Canary Flycatcher (चञ्चले अर्जुनक). A dainty seasonal bird that made Indian Embassy its home usually from September to early March as they usually are found in higher altitude and move to Kathmandu valley for winters. It is extremely active, quickly moving between bushes, the Nepali name therefore is descriptive चञ्चले. Photographing it also teaches one patience, a quality that I found very useful in my regular diplomatic profession too! @pbs_savethebird @MOFENepal @birdingindia @birdsinindia @Team_eBird @nepaltourismb @IndiaInNepal @AnupKaphle @anilkathmandu
The surroundings of the Indian Embassy premises in Kathmandu left outgoing Indian Ambassador feeling nostalgic. Before leaving Kathmandu, the outgoing envoy posted a series of photographs capturing places and moments that had found a special place in his heart—memories beautifully woven into the fabric of his tenure in Nepal by @AnupKaphle @navsri6619 kathmandupost.com/art-cultur… via @kathmandupost
