Today, we remember the lives lost on 20 October 2020. We mourn them and stand with the families whose lives were forever changed by the struggle against police brutality. Six years later, we must ask: what has truly changed? From the use of police to disrupt my declaration into the ADC to the poor welfare and housing conditions facing officers, we must confront a system that too often fails both citizens and those entrusted to protect them. Police officers deserve dignity and decent working conditions. Citizens deserve protection, accountability and freedom from intimidation. Neither should be sacrificed for political interests. We honour the #EndSARS victims by continuing to demand a Lagos and a Nigeria where institutions serve the people, and power is exercised with responsibility. May their sacrifice never be in vain.

Governance is about vision, empathy, integrity, respect for the rule of law and the constitution and commitment to the welfare of the greatest number. History shows clearly that Nigeria's most positive consequential leaders, Awolowo, Jakande, Aminu Kano had no experience in political office before getting into office. What is even more tragic is how out of touch those with so called " experience" have shown themselves to be. Lagos is not a company, Governance is not a for profit agency, It's success should not be determined solely by IGR, Good governance is about service delivery, an enabling enviroment created by maximising our common wealth to positively impact the majority at the best possible price in the shortest possible time. On that metric, the APC government has failed woefully. The APC Lagos ideology and system is solely to sustain their racketeering, budget / procurement padding and God fatherisim. YOU are only a factor every 4 years. What they have failed to achieve in 20+ years, they will not achieve in another 4 years. It is time to end this parasitic chokehold on Lagos State. LAGOS DESERVES BETTER.

Consul General Brandon Hudspeth to naval leaders from 30 nations and organizations: Don’t mistake progress for permanence. Bad actors adapt, so the international response must too.    Opening the 3rd Transatlantic Maritime Security Symposium in Lagos, he pointed to the Gulf of Guinea as proof of what coordinated national, regional, and global effort can achieve. The four-day event focused on strengthening the Yaoundé Code of Conduct and deepening joint patrols.  It was organized by the National Defense University’s Africa Center for Strategic Studies and the William J. 50+ Forces Armées de Côte d'Ivoire (FACI) members are teaming up with U.S. Civil-Military Affairs & Strategic Stabilization Advisors this month to train as civil-military coordinators. 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇮   Stronger community ties = regional stability.

Since 2 October 2026, all four Lagos State-owned universities: LASU, LASUED, LASUSTECH and LASUCOM have been shut by an indefinite strike. This was avoidable and unacceptable. University workers deserve a pay rise and a government that honours its commitments to them. A government that allows its universities to shut down indefinitely is not only failing its workers, it is gambling with the future of our children. Nine months of unpaid arrears, from January to September 2026, Implementation of the agreed salary structure and a 15 per cent “Lagos Factor” to reflect the extraordinary cost of living in Lagos, are not unreasonable demands in an economy that has pauperized working people. Lagos is now the biggest recipient of federal allocations among Nigeria’s states. It’s internally generated revenue is unquestionably the highest, but yet it lacks empathy towards its workers. Recall that in 2023, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu pledged a 20 percent salary increase for university workers and five Marcopolo buses to improve transportation for students and staff. Three years later, workers are still waiting. A government that cannot fulfil a commitment to provide five buses for its own universities must explain why Lagosians should continue to trust its promises. I therefore call on the Lagos State Government to immediately pay the nine months of arrears owed to university workers, covering January to September 2026. Additionally, the government must Implement the agreed salary structure and the 15 per cent Lagos Factor in full. It should also honor the 2023 commitment to provide five Marcopolo buses for our universities. I call on Governor Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Hamzat, to meet with the unions this week and bring this strike to an immediate end. Lagos can afford to pay its university workers but what Lagos cannot afford is a government that chooses its comfort over the future of our children.

Dear Lagosians, This is my promise to you. I will never in any language tell you to live in your parents house as an answer to the expensive rents and housing deficit. Instead we will work tirelessly to deliver a 100,000 units of housing that are not only accessible but truly affordable. Enact laws that protect tenants and create an agency to investigate and enforce said laws. I will never in any language tell you that Traffic is a lifestyle. Instead we will deliver the entire rail network in 2years by opening the project to private sector procurement. Our focus will not be how to pad or steal money it would be on making movement in lagos more effective and affordable. I will never in any language tell you that we do not know or understand how much waste is being generated in Lagos state, neither will we tell you to go back to you village when you complain about the state of the enviroment . We will rid the waste management system of the corruption and racketeering that has left lagos covered in filth. We will create a waste to energy and waste to wealth value chain. We will build out proper sewage processing facilities and empower local governments to participate in waste management. Lastly under no circumstance will any public official boast about expensive watches whilst so many struggle in poverty. My promise to you is high impact governance, actions you will feel, because Actions speak far louder than words. #ourlagos.

My opening remarks @theplatformng today. I thank @pastorpoju for centering and bringing our youth front and centre in to this discourse. They stand to benefit the most from good governance and stand to be the biggest casualty of bad governance. We discussed issues of corruption in the waste management of Lagos, safety for our youth and the housing affordability crisis. Our ideology is people centred, focused on positive impact that you can feel, to create a safe, clean and affordable lagos that works for us all #Ourlagos
Lagos Governance Has Benefited Those In Charge, Not The People — Rhodes-Vivour Usually, people believe politicians are the same because the same people have run Lagos for a long period of time. We have come with two different ideologies. The first seeks to extract from the state and maximise money, where currently, those who benefit are only those in charge. The other puts the people first, with affordable housing, good roads and quality education. My plan for the youth is to increase their capacity and provide opportunities for them to develop skills to a world-class standard. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour ADC Governorship Candidate, Lagos State

Nigeria National Day On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations to the people of Nigeria on the 66th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence. The United States places great value on this strong bilateral relationship and appreciates the substantive dialogue undertaken over the past year.  As Africa’s largest democracy and one of its largest economies, Nigeria plays a vital role in advancing regional stability and economic growth.  The United States is proud to stand alongside Nigeria in pursuit of these common goals. Our two nations are bound by a shared commitment to continued progress on our common priorities, rooted in mutual democratic principles, the protection of religious freedom, a growing commercial relationship, and a commitment to fostering peace and security. Congratulations once again.  May this proud nation and its people thrive in peace, unity, prosperity, and hope for generations to come.
