Yesterday’s Annual Scientific Conference was the largest and most successful yet with over 190 ADAPT members in attendance. It featured 12 engaging presentations, 55 posters, 2 demos, an EPE pop up, and a fascinating keynote from Prof Cristina Conati (University of British Columbia).
Congratulations to all the presenters, but in particular our award winners:
Best Overall Contribution: Delaram Golpayegani (TCD)
Best Student Contribution: Emily Ip (TCD)
Best Poster: Sami Ul Haq (DCU)

🚨 Lab paper alert! 🚨 This study, led by @AChalehchaleh, introduces a method to enhance EEG/TRF measurements of word-level expectations. We've been measuring this with one hand tied behind our backs—until now! Check it out: iopscience.iop.org/article/1…

We've extended the deadline for tutorial submissions until August 14th! If you have a cool piece of analysis of continuous sensory experiments you'd like to show off, we'd like to see it!
Similar to last year, we would like to invite early-stage researchers to give Interactive Tutorials as a way to showcase their work and research tools. Details of what's involved and how to apply are contained in the link below. Deadline is July 31, 2023.

#Ireland is a bad place to do a #PhD as a non-EU citizen. Non-EU researchers like myself face a 1000€ yearly research expense for the residence permit and mandatory health insurance that @scienceirel refuses to reimburse. We want to focus on research not making ends meet.
Today we sent a public letter to @PhilipNolan_SFI, Director General of the SFI @scienceirel, the largest funder of PhDs in Ireland.
We asked for unequivocal advice to all SFI centres to let non-EU PhDs claim expenses for mandatory insurance and the Irish Residence Permit 1/6
