🚨 Bengaluru high rise fire raises a terrifying question. An 8th floor apartment reportedly burned for over an hour. Residents had to step in as the first fire engine allegedly arrived WITHOUT a ladder. A ladder equipped truck reportedly arrived nearly 2 hours later. What happens when people are trapped above the reach of emergency crews? Who is accountable for this response? Fire safety cannot arrive two hours late. Bengaluru deserves answers.

What a terribly poor situation. And it happens because of lack of actual meritocracy in India. What is eMudhra business model? Regulatory capture. What is their competency? Being in cahoots with the govt. All govt organisations and PSU banks use them and they are one of the “recognised” authorities to digitally sign documents and all that - why? Because they had “contacts” in government to get into this position No private company actually use them of course because the experience of using them is dogshit and no one competent enough trusts them. But after getting such large PSU banks and orgs in India on board they went to other South Asian and Middle Eastern countries and got them onboard as well. And as of last week before the certificates were breached many popular financial institutions were using them. Like if someone brute forced their certificates; within first 256 attempts all 8 intermediate certificates would be gotten. Till now only reason they were not; was because no one thought it would be useful to brute force 2^384 combinations. Basically they never locked the door and no one actually tried to push it open all these years.

We bet on OpenTelemetry-native from day one because this was always where things were heading. Now FastAPI ships it built in. Instrumentation is becoming a framework default, not a chore. Upgrade to fastapi[standard] 0.142.2 and send those spans our way at base14.io 🔭
FastAPI now has built-in OpenTelemetry support, natively 📈 No extra code needed. See how your app behaves in production. Go and upgrade to "fastapi[standard]" version 0.142.2 ⬆️ Read the docs: fastapi.tiangolo.com/advance…

I'm sorry did you say "petabytes of agent activity logs"? (One petabyte holds more than 10x all the books ever published in the world.)
There is an extensive and ongoing review related to our agents’ use of internet access during training and evaluation. We’ve been publishing summaries at the link below and will continue to. We have not been as fast as we would have liked but we are trying to balance our desire for transparency with gaining a clear understanding from petabytes of agent activity logs, and working with impacted organizations. We are prioritizing as best as we can based on severity, and adding resources. Hugging Face is still the most severe event we’ve seen. We will be as transparent as we can be subject to things like vulnerabilities in other companies that our agents have found, which will be their call to disclose or not.

If a cap of ₹5 or ₹10 per transaction is appropriate for money movement in a multi-party network, a cap of ₹1 or ₹2 should be appropriate for demat share movement between/within NSDL/CDSL (Currently it is 10x that!) Hoping that unnecessarily high fee is also revisited amidst this discussion on cost of payments.
I think MDR on UPI was probably inevitable at some point, especially given how widespread UPI adoption has become. It could also lead to more competition, instead of just three apps accounting for more than 95% of the market. That being said, there are some use cases, like investing and broking, where the proposed MDR structure doesn’t really make sense. The problem with broking is that there is no guarantee that money transferred to a broker will actually result in a transaction. As brokers, we can’t force a customer to trade after transferring money. And if we can’t pass the UPI charge on to the customer, there is essentially no limit to the cost a customer can impose on a broker without generating any revenue. Just as an example, 10,000 customers could each make 50 UPI transfers of ₹2 lakh in a month without executing a single trade. At the proposed MDR, this could potentially cost the broker around ₹2 crore, without generating any business. What makes this even more challenging is quarterly settlement (QS). This is a SEBI regulation that requires brokers to send unused funds back to clients every month or quarter. Most customers then transfer these funds back to their broking accounts, with more than half of these transfers happening through UPI. So regulation essentially forces this movement of money every month or quarter, and the broker could end up bearing the cost when the money comes back, without any incremental benefit or revenue. By the way, we currently don’t charge brokerage on equity delivery trades because the economics allow us to offer them for free. But if every UPI transfer starts carrying an additional cost, irrespective of whether the customer actually trades, I don’t see how we can absorb this indefinitely. I think having an MDR is okay. It still doesn’t solve the problem of customers transferring money without transacting, but something like 0.02% with a cap of ₹5 or ₹10 per transaction seems much more reasonable for broking, instead of a cap as high as ₹300.

Let's don't forget about BharOS forking GrapheneOS, ShaktiDB forking Postgres and Ping Browser forking Brave (all 3 did it in a very shady, dishonest and untransparent way).
#BharOS, India’s answer to Android, may not be as ‘secure’ or competent as you think— it’s simply cloned from a popular open source OS, raising questions about the integrity of the team behind it. ✍️ Karan Saini newslaundry.com/2023/10/23/b…

As Anders Hejlsberg put it: let LLMs discover the non-AI solution, then let code repeat it. The same applies to agents: use them to navigate ambiguity, then progressively turn what they learn into deterministic workflows.
Why Microsoft didn't have LLMs do their recent Typescript native rewrite in Go Anders Hejlsberg (Creator of Typescript): "If we just let AI loose on, what is it, half a million lines of code that we have in the old compiler? Well, I don't know that that would absolve us from then having go in and carefully examining every line that came out of it to make sure that there were no hallucinations. Right. Unless you have 100% perfect test coverage, you probably still gotta go check all of that. Now I think a better approach, quite honestly, would be enlist AI to write a program that helps you translate from TypeScript to go, because at that point you can park the stochastic ness in that program and then you can get deterministic behavior whenever you run the program, which means you get the same transformation every time you run it. Right. That's always the thing about AI that people forget it's not deterministic. Right. So you can't really trust that it's going to do the same thing twice. For the full conversation, you can search Anders Hejlsberg's name on my YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts (link in bio)

Bangalore ORR SHOULD NOT BE WHITE-TOPPED There is zero value in doing it There is enormous traffic already Closing lanes for this is madness First finish the metro - I'd be surprised if it opens minimally before Dec 2027 Then create a comprehensive plan for pedestrian, cycle/motorbike, bus access end-to-end for improving congestion As a next stage look at TENDER-SURE kind of white topping, including moving all cables, etc. ORRCA & concerned citizens should file a case against white topping tender and not allow it to proceed

I’m not kidding this is such a pressure release. Finally I’m not talking to a self obsessed midlife crisis wala uncle who’s obsessed about explaining every punctuation mark.
You can now set Claude Code's output style to Concise. Claude leads with the result, keeps responses short, and still gives full detail when you ask. Turn it on in /config → Output style, or set "outputStyle": "Concise" in settings.json.

Companies should push back. This stretch is the backbone of Bangalore GCC's & Startups, the primary growth engine of the city. The road surface on ORR is quite good by Bangalore standards & there is no immediate need to do this. Already the city is losing a lot of new GCC's to Hyderabad & this will accelerate this trend.
Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road firms' body rejects WFH, seeks halt on Rs 450-cr road revamp till metro opens In a letter dated August 14 to GBA Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, accessed by Moneycontrol, ORRCA expressed “deep disappointment and serious concern” over reports that civic authority plans to commence white-topping works on ORR from October 2026. The association said ORR supports more than 500 companies and 1.3 million employees and is among Bengaluru's major economic and technology corridors. By @ChristinMP_ moneycontrol.com/news/india/…
