🌋 After years of being an internet recluse, I’m now bursting with announcements:
1. @castlexyz has been my full focus for >5 years now, and I’m proud to share we recently closed a $15M round led by @khoslaventures to keep pursuing the dream of HyperCard, Flash, MarioPaint et al
I was also crushed to learn this and used the occasion to look through every single work of his: xitter.cf/irondavy/status/191298…
shoulda been “touch glass”

I used to quote Charles and Ray Eames on this matter: “Innovate as a last resort.” I always got blank stares in response — isn’t innovation the premise of a startup? Yes it is, and this quote does not refute that.
Replying to @EmmettMaher
90% of software *should* look and work the same. millions of hours have been wasted by software makers and users trying to create, and figure out how to use, special snowflakes.
Making a little library of trivia trainers for this doohickey, starting with morse code and world flags
Math and code are domains of knowledge where experts tend to converge. LLMs making strides in convergent domains does not generalize to divergent domains. I think engineers flatter themselves when they suggest otherwise. Marketing and art, for example, have the reverse nature.
Go work with Mills 👍 and his smart fun team 👍👍 on one of the only social apps that doesn’t make you feel like shit after using it 👍👍👍
You might expect the Apple Human Interface Guidelines from 1993 to feel quaint, but even the introduction to the basic concept of a “screen” still hits — we’re doing more “mail slot” software than ever here in 2025!

On the state of LLMs and how vibe coding is like sports betting for ADHD designers like me

Very special chance to work in gen AI that isn’t vapid or anti-humane, on a product that’s already working made by a team filled with heart 👇
I’m hiring a product designer for Sudowrite.
This is a dream job for a designer who loves to write.
The beginning of the listing is… a mini therapy sesh for me.
You’d think it’d be chill after that. But no, it goes on to talk about our company cult…

The full cycle goes like this:
1. What looks good in a keynote gets shipped first
2. Over the beta they fix the glaring accessibility issues, but doing so dampens how slick the design system is
3. In 1-2 OS releases they find a reasonable middle ground and we forget about this
