The plan being deliberated at the #FRLD Board right now is a betrayal. A Fund meant for frontline communities is drowning in loopholes, stripped of rights and is being handed over to MDBs and private sector. We didn’t fight for this. #RestoreTheCompass NOW. 🔥 – at Barbados

🇧🇧Right out the Oven in Barbados 🇧🇧 The start-up phase for the #lossanddamagefund threatens to undermine its mandate. This decision must not be allowed to reinterpret or dilute what Parties already agreed in the Governing Instrument — which was already a hard-won compromise. 🚨 “Country ownership” is being narrowed to mean only government sign-off, allowing external actors — MDBs, UN agencies, private firms — to submit top-down proposals with minimal national or community involvement. This undermines the country-driven mandate. ❌ In the name of speed, the proposed Start-Up Programme undermines the value and credibility of the Fund at a time when it most needs to establish both. It compromises our ability to fully operationalize its mission. ⚠️ The Fund was meant to be innovative, not just another Fund of funds. But vague references to “partners” open the door for existing institutions to access the Fund — the same ones that already exclude communities and do not operate with a loss and damage mandate. 🔍 There is no reference in the operational text to vulnerable communities, marginalized groups, or community access — neither at the Fund level nor through any implementation modality. This is an unacceptable omission. The start-up phase must include clear safeguards and commitments to prevent harm to people and ecosystems, and ensure inclusive, equitable access from day one. ✊🏾 The Governing Instrument was a floor, not a ceiling. We already compromised. Now it’s time to deliver. #RestoreTheCompass #LossAndDamage #ClimateJustice

We live in an era of losses and damages. Humans have moved for over a millennia, who gets celebrated and who gets criminalized has always been about power and the color of your pigment. Protections for people on the move are essential for climate justice. #InternationalMigrantsDay

A crucial reminder to the Board of the Fund for #LossandDamage "giving the floow now that decisioin is adopted" is unacceptable. Effective participation cannot be achieved by allowing observers to speak only after decisions have already been made—especially when those decisions directly affect us. Observers are not a burden to the process; we are an integral part of it, #frld

The #LossandDamage fund is at home in Philippines, but what is the state of the Promises vs Action? With only $749.25 pledged, where do we stand? Let’s break it down
