“The rape didn’t last long enough” There is not enough anger in the world to account for how little sexual violence against women just doesn’t matter in society.
A Swedish court has ruled that the Eritrean migrant who raped 16-year-old Meya Åberg won’t be deported because the rape didn’t last long enough. The rape took place on September 1st last year when Meya missed her bus and was walking through a pedestrian tunnel after finishing her shift at McDonald’s. Meya and her family immediately reported it to the police. The 18-year-old Eritrean migrant, named Yazied Mohamed, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for rape. Mohamed is a citizen of Eritrea, and the prosecutor sought his deportation. However, the Court of Appeal noted that the man has refugee status. Under Swedish law, deporting a refugee requires that the crime committed constitutes an “exceptionally serious offense” and that allowing them to remain in Sweden would pose a “serious threat to public order and safety.” The rape of 16-year-old Meya was not deemed serious enough to justify deportation, with the Court of Appeal citing, among other factors, the “duration” of the rape in its assessment. “Rape is, in many cases, considered an exceptionally serious offense that could lead to the deportation of a refugee, but an assessment must be made based on all circumstances in the individual case. Given the nature and duration of the offense in question, the Court of Appeal finds that while the crime is serious, it does not constitute an exceptionally serious offense that would warrant a deportation order for Yazied Mohamed. The request for deportation is therefore rejected,” the Court of Appeal for Upper Norrland wrote in its ruling.

When you flippantly use the words far right, nazi, bigot, and fascist against people who are not those things, it renders the words meaningless. You can’t then complain when people don’t take you seriously. Obviously a sub tweet.

Today for the 1st time @AllianceLGB are giving evidence in Parliament to the Joint Committee on the draft Conversion Practices Bill. We are so proud to be here notwithstanding the tidal wave of homophobia directed against us including from some current & former MPs.

"“That won't be a chilling effect; that will be a deep freeze.” @Jebadoo2 explains with the most admirable crystal clarity what the proposed Conversion Practices Bill would do to exploratory therapy. Watching the evidence session now: more quotes and videos to follow.

No matter how condescending he sounds, Peter Hitchens is spot on.
Matthew Perry’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, has told a new documentary about her brother’s life that his 2013 #Newsnight debate with Peter Hitchens was a “huge moment” in his decision to speak publicly about addiction and “show himself”. You can watch some of the debate here.

What is this “evidence based care” he is speaking about. There’s is precious little evidence for the benefits of “gender affirming care”.
So Stonewall want a registry of Stonewall-approved therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists to be set up? What could possibly go wrong? Stephen Kiely from Stonewall is giving *very* strong Matthew Hopkins “Witchfinder General” vibes

IMO Only Nazis should be called Nazis. We demean ourselves and trivialize the holocaust by using Nazi as a shorthand for “people I don’t agree with”. Exactly!!!!!

Who would have thought that asking the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls whether she accepts that rape occurred on 7 October would be such a complicated business? We tried. A lot. Here's what happened.

I’ve now been contacted by numerous people about the ‘Boob Man of Oxford’. Those who work or study at Oxford have asked for anonymity, so I can’t share identifying details. But some common themes have emerged: - Unsurprisingly, women describe feeling uncomfortable about a male lecturer wearing what appear to be oversized prosthetic breasts in their place of work or study - Some question whether there is a sexual element or whether it is a ‘power play’. These are their concerns, rather than established explanations for his behaviour - but are legitimate concerns nonetheless - They say they’re afraid to raise concerns because he is surrounded by ‘allies’, including staff, who defend his appearance as 'self-expression' One source has even wondered whether this is an elaborate stunt to embarrass the university - along the lines of Josh Seiter, who pretended to be a trans woman as an 'experiment'. Another source says this has been going on for three years - which does seem a long time to keep up the act. There is interest in covering this in the mainstream press. What would help now is more documentary evidence: complaint letters, responses or correspondence showing how concerns have been handled. My inbox is open: [email protected]. Happy to have a confidential chat about any aspect of this. All messages treated in confidence.

🙌 Another great tweet from Iseult 🙌
You do you Jennifer. I actually have not supported KJK because I don’t agree with her politics but nor have I called her a Nazi and empowered people to physically attack her. I supported Filia until they made it very clear that there were some issues they are deeply partisan about. Their “big tent” is only so big. Their actions at Brighton were not above criticism and consequently they investigated themselves. I don’t spend my time constantly instituting purity tests, and I rarely publicly criticize others whose politics I disagree with. I sometimes criticize their politics, however my style is to put out my perspective, rather than criticize other people’s perspective. Freedom expression being one of my core values. Here I was commenting on a dynamic that I see constantly emerging - you have chosen to understand it in one specific way, that seems to fit with your priors. Though I was making reference to one example. IMO Only Nazis should be called Nazis. We demean ourselves and trivialize the holocaust by using Nazi as a shorthand for “people I don’t agree with”. Similarly by throwing around the term racist without good evidence of actual racism we trivialize the deep harms that racism has and continues to do in the world.

This is my subtweet, There are many like it, but this one is mine. If you’re an organisation that prides itself on being a big tent, yet people from multiple backgrounds, with different perspectives and experiences, keep raising concerns about the way you operate, perhaps it’s time to look inward rather than dismissing each complaint as "people trying to destroy us". You can’t keep claiming to be a big tent while refusing to examine why so many people feel pushed out of it. Maybe it’s time to consider that you’re the common denominator.

New in @washingtonpost: @TheFIREorg tracked 200+ deplatforming attempts in 2026—a record. For the second year, more came from the RIGHT of the targeted expression than the left. But the constant? Administrators who were supposed to protect speech and instead policed it.

Karen steadfastly held the line when others had caved. It was a lonely place to be for a long time. So grateful to her.
I feel quite emotional reading this. It came years too late but I pay my respects to RCEW CEO Ciara Bergman and the Board of Trustees who I know will have pored over this. Thank you. Women victim-survivors of sexual & domestic violence & abuse deserve women only spaces. Finally.
