My first article for Praxians, our philosophy column at Zeitgeist Now @thezeitgeistnow.
“If we Africans care about progress at a foundational level, we cannot hope to leapfrog into prosperity without first building and sustaining the intellectual cradles of our societies, testing and improving the ideas they spread, and aiming those ideas squarely at the advancement of our people.
In developing nations, investing heavily in ideas and the knowledge economy cannot be an aristocratic luxury because ideas are quite literally the golden tickets out of poverty.”

In it she outlines the philosophy that animates our work, which is the recognition of the primacy of ideas.

To underestimate an opponent, or to cast them, gratuitously, into some contumely and indiscriminate taxonomy of foolishness, or whatever other convenient species the vocabulary of contempt supplies, is a Wittgensteinian ruler, against you.

I'm still taking in yesterday. Friends, mutuals and complete strangers amplified my story. I don't take it for granted. Because of you, we're at $3,900+. The road ahead is still long, with $25K due Dec 14 and every share gets me closer

Hi everyone, I’m Marvellous, some of you know me as Ini. I’m a few months from finishing my MPH at NYU. I planned for this year with a student loan and a summer internship but it didn’t come through. Then this month, MPOWER shut down. I was on their waitlist.

The “fight against anti-intellectualism” on this app is just a bunch of word salad chefs trying to enforce authoritarianism while forgetting the very principles of intellectualism: nuance, critical analysis, context, and individualism.
A clear case of “you no go school reach me”

The people who position as intellectual people are just very interesting to see. Because you’d think that regardless of the tragedy that Romeo and Juliet is, the theme of love is actually absent.
She wants to make cancer care accessible in West Africa. She's $50K away from finishing, with $25K due Dec 14. Let's get her there 🤍

In the 1960s, Côte d'Ivoire was richer than South Korea.
Both followed their comparative advantage: Côte d’Ivoire grew cocoa and coffee, South Korea made garments and wigs.
In 1973, South Korea pulled ahead, and today it is more than ten times richer. Why could only one of those advantages grow?

I need $50,000 to finish my degree, including $25,000 by December 14 to stay enrolled. Else, I could lose my student status. With the current bisa ban on Nigerians, I wouldn’t be able to come back, and everything I’ve worked toward would fall apart.
