when you go into a shared gender neutral bathroom at a bar or venue do you shudder and squirm
what sex-exclusive places are worse off for having trans people there
like this is a 'more moderate' position than kill them all but it's patently transphobic

nithya raman's colleagues on the city council don't like her because she has correctly counseled them to not oppose housing developments that will win in court anyway

Politico: Nithya Raman is facing “a full-on, multiple-person verbal assault” from her City Council colleagues, not one of whom has endorsed her.
If Raman wins, her ambitious agenda may depend on her ability to persuade a council majority to go along.

Every character in the film intentionally lies, we get the scene of Nathan changing the words Holmes said in her favor live with AS, no reason to believe he hasn’t been doing that in the editing room or subconsciously, and she outright accuses him of intentionally lying
if that’s the case it’s a q of whether lance and director Nathan are willing to let character “director Nathan” achieve that goal w/ wholesale invention hidden in plain sight (which there is textual evidence for!)

ehhhhh it depends if you think the idea of the film is that Nathan is both depicting someone fully engulfed by the deception while being observed by lance (proxy via celeb actress)
I’m not sure how I feel about it but I find it troubling when an industries profits are mostly driven by addiction
Whether the solution is to increase the supply of medical interventions for addiction, subsidies for addiction treatment, idk, but it’s not a normal market!

yes this is a theme of the film but my second tweet I think is a non-fatalistic clarification, I think even the text of the film asks us to wonder if Nathan is inventing stuff wholesale (as he has done repeatedly throughout his career)

what is the value of an accurate portrayal? how would you evaluate such a thing? because it 'feels' accurate?
nathan fielder has from the start explored 'reality show' dynamics and You Can See Everything is still part of that
one of the achievements of 'survivor' is that every family visit is 100% enthusiastic, and i was shocked to find that 'love island' family visits dodge this too. they can follow along live, so they too can be seduced by the narrative the editors sell - about their own kids.
reminds me a lot of the family visit episodes of 'the bachelor' in which the illusion of the show is invariably shattered by watching parents be absolutely terrified of what their kid is doing to themselves
(with the exception of 'the golden bachelor')
