Our likeness to Christ also matures in the midst of difficulties, such as when work seems fruitless, when our strength wanes or when we must start anew. Eventually endurance leaves its mark. Over the years, a gaze can become more merciful, hands more willing to serve and words more capable of comforting. May trials always find us united to Jesus, so that they may help us to grow in His love. #ApostolicJourney #Uruguay

Musk on Ukraine
“In hindsight, it was a mistake for SpaceX to send them thousands of free Starlink dishes and millions of dollars a month in free service at the beginning of the war. What started as internet access for civilians became the backbone for autonomous killing drones. And now if they don’t support military use, they get skewered for it in the press.”
This is called targeted pro-Kremlin messaging. The point is to make that a discussion.
But there is no discussion. Russia is an aggressor. Russia stops killing and withdraws - war ends. Period.

We now have intel that another strike is being prepared – targeting our energy sector, bridges across the Dnipro, and civilian infrastructure. The Air Force and the Armed Forces of Ukraine overall are preparing to protect us. We need interceptor missiles for our Patriots. Every agreement matters, and every day counts when it comes to deliveries. We're asking our partners very strongly: please don't put off deliveries.
Please stay safe, given the threat of missile attacks. Glory to Ukraine!

China is expanding export controls beyond rare earths to solar manufacturing processes, AI models, drones, and other technologies.
The restrictions are designed to make Chinese factories and laboratories harder to replace. They could limit foreign access to the latest Chinese AI models and make it more difficult for companies outside China to build competitive solar equipment factories. Beijing is applying the same approach it has used with critical minerals to a wider range of technologies.
The controls are not a ban on finished goods. They target the processes and equipment that others would need to reduce their dependence on Chinese production. The goal is to keep the manufacturing advantage inside China.
NYT: China’s Message to Its Rivals: You Need What We Make—It’s not just rare earths. China is making it harder for other countries to shed their dependence on its solar, drone and drugmaking technology.

Absolutely insane update: it's now confirmed that the close friend of Huang was in fact an asset of a Beijing intelligence agency, the MSS.
Trump was briefed and chose to do nothing about it.
Unreal: a close friend of Nvidia's Jensen Huang was uncovered as a Chinese intelligence asset tasked with steering advanced Nvidia AI chips into the hands of Beijing.
Trump was briefed about the findings a year ago.
He chose to do nothing.

It is extremely funny when China doves claim Beijing "accidentally" developed and exploited chokepoints in the global supply chain. They literally say out loud this is the strategy!
There's an important debate to be had about how we respond and the right techno-industrial policy, but can we please dispense with the premise that it isn't intentional?
