A great piece in @Telegraph today on how important clinical trials are for cancer patients in accessing innovative treatments. This makes the 48% drop in UK phase-three clinical trials between 2017-2020 all the more troubling. telegraph.co.uk/health-fitne…

The vast majority of parents want to spend more time with their children. 50% want to do all of the caring for their children, but only 19% are actually able to. Parents are worth more than their weight in GDP. It's time we put the £6 billion we spend on childcare to better use.
“There's an assumption that the answer to childcare is more cheap, formal childcare, but that's not actually what parents want. And this report shows that most would prefer to spend more time with their own babies and young children,” Miriam Cates MP 📚 centreforsocialjustice.org.u…

Whatever the next election result, the Tories owe it to the country to govern with moderation and competence. Sunak must be PM and he must govern as a National Conservative: robust on crime and immigration, prepared to intervene in the economy. My column: telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/10…

Read @Will_Tanner’s piece for @thetimes on how how the Conservatives can rebuild their shattered electoral coalition.
“The Conservative Party must rediscover national conservatism, combining private enterprise with interventionist economic policies. And it needs to be strong in defence of Britain’s security, borders and national identity.” @Will_Tanner for @thetimes. thetimes.co.uk/article/b0a83…

It doesn’t matter who has what job in Government if we don’t face facts about what the matter really is. The matter isn’t good or bad ministers. It’s the slow collapse of the economic and social model that the UK has had for 30 years. Since the end of the Cold War we’ve had...
