as a salesperson this will get you a response at a shockingly high clip
[name]? sending that ^ as a last-resort bump email is the most effective sales technique i've ever learned it evokes an emotional response in the recipient because people are not used to seeing their name in such an exposed manner. it's almost alarming the format also breaks their pattern recognition of what cold outreach looks like, and therefore breaks their autopilot response to said outreach this has either revived or generated at least one deal per month for me, no exaggeration

if you ever need to be reminded that new york is a melting pot, just walk into a Joe Coffee and look at the community bulletin board

when people want to sound sophisticated about the NFL they say "the product just isn't good this year"

you almost never see companies launch products or make big announcements on X on Friday afternoons meanwhile @jack announces Dessa at 2:30pm on a Friday the cofounder of this platform clearly knows a thing or two about the algo that the rest of us don't
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

if you said someone was sending me a lump sum of cash and proposing we "get weird" together, the HR system would've been my very last guess

(1/4) Today, we are announcing our most ambitious work yet. Introducing: Iris-1 Off-the-shelf AI models work well for agents in the digital world, but bridging the gap to the physical world requires a different kind of intelligence: AI that sees and understands why things happen on the floor.

series b employees love intro'ing with "i've been at the company 7 months now, which somehow makes me a veteran here - haha!"

sometimes I ask people 5-10 years older what they'd do at my age tonight was an instant favorite: "literally put a map on your wall and take the next 5 years to slowly cross off your bucket list countries" other favorites include "just be 22 as fuck" back when I moved to nyc it costs $0 to do this and the advice is always spot on. people will tell you exactly how they feel. interestingly the advice is never about work/career

a massively underrated sales tip is to be helpful in ways that have nothing to do with your product we sell performance management and the people who buy it (people ops, HR, talent) happen to own recruiting too @trywindmill has nothing to do with recruiting, but I always scrape the jobs page of every in-flight deal to see if I can make a helpful hiring connection find your version of this and do it as much as possible

after inadvertently posting my @calcom link on X, my day tomorrow now contains: - a demo with the CEO of Rolls-Royce (almost certainly a prank) - calls with two college students looking for startup advice (I respect the hustle)
yeah I guess that's fine @Kalshi

the late stages of a software deal are extremely odd right now buyer uses Claude to generate a bunch of product/roadmap/security questions, sends to the AE AE uses Claude to check the codebase and generate answers to those questions, sends back to the buyer buyer repeats this with 5 other vendors and asks Claude which company had the best responses buyer uses Claude to generate a deck with their final recommendation, presents to the exec team buyer pays out XXX,XXX to the winner in other words, "your Claude dances with my Claude, and if they like each other I pay you 6 figures"

The greatest trick OpenAI ever pulled was convincing the world that sacrificing your privacy is the price of using AI. We think that's insane. Introducing Loci: your own private AI, inside the apps you already use. → text it from iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and Slack → runs 100% on your own computer → chats never leave your machine Try it free: askloci.ai/chat

every 2 months ramp doubles their valuation, i read a new soliloquy about saving time and money, then i have to re-rationalize why i didn't join in 2023
Today, Ramp raised $1.85B at a $60B valuation. Seven years ago, Karim and I wrote our mission on a Post-it: “Save companies time and money.” Our mission hasn't changed. It’s just gotten bigger.
