If you teach martial arts for any appreciable amount of time, you’re going to eventually lose students here & there. Just a fact of life. Job changes, family situations change, moves, etc.
It’s tough to see them go, but this time hurts quite a bit more.
Kaicen is more than a good student. He’s an all around outstanding young man. Full of love & life. Humble, but with the heart of a lion.
He’s nonverbal autistic, but yet the loudest counting reps in warmups now. He’s not the biggest, but will fight anyone without hesitation & has the same attitude after no matter if he wins or loses.
His first day, he stood petrified next to the mat, refusing to step a single foot onto it. So, I spent the whole class seated next to him, just talking. He showed up the next class ready to go & never looked back.
It’s hard to put into words the impact he’s had on my life.
Our hearts break to know he’s moving away, but I know whatever school he joins in Houston is going to be blessed to have him and I take joy in knowing he’s going to shine there too.
After playing so many HABA games this week, it was fun to get an adult game in finally 😁

One son had to work all weekend & the other started a new job that finally gives him weekends off. Cam came over for lunch & games yesterday. Right as we finished Morocco, Bryan was getting hungry at work. Brought him some food before the 2 littles came over for the night. 💙

It’s not the companies job to get wrestlers over. It’s the wrestlers job to get themselves over. Putting a good match doesn’t make you a star. How you connect with the crowd the audience makes you a star. No writer can write that for you.
