MinerTalk: WR Jaylan Brown is looking to build on his first season with UTEP.
The wide receiver finished the 2025 season with 10 catches for 103 yards, averaging 10.3 yards per reception.
With another offseason in the UTEP offense, Brown enters 2026 looking to earn a larger role in the Miners’ passing game.
We caught up with Brown to discuss his development, his progression within the offense and what he expects from himself heading into the 2026 season.
“This has been a good, intense fall camp…Getting in the rotation and running with the ones and twos.”

Seniors without offers in December, you have 4 options:
1. Keep grinding for D2/NAIA scholarship
2. Take a D1 PWO (recruited walk-on)0
3. Walk-on tryout (not recommended - wastes eligibility)
4.JUCO or prep school
D1 scholarship at this point?
Probably not happening unless you already are talking to one.

What a play by Locklear on fourth down! He hit WR Jaylan Brown for a 1st down to the NM State 28. Play is under review.

What a pass by QB Malachi Nelson to WR Jaylan Brown, which was negated by a holding penalty. No. 17 has some nastiness to him! #MinerTalk

Shoutout Jaylan Brown for carrying the heavy lifting of the portal departures, he’s played in all three games with UTEP and recorded his first career catch last week.
Which, shocker, the hard worker in practice (4x Scout Team Player of the Week) found his way to the field.
