Back in 2010, the minimum wage was £12,064 and the 'higher earner' band started at £43,875.
You only paid 40% tax once you were earning 3.6x the minimum wage.
There was clear incentive to progress, learn and aspire for more.
As things stand, you now start paying 40% tax once you earn £50,270 which is just 1.83x the minimum wage.
If it was the same multiple as 2010, the 'higher earning' band would be £98,841 and everyone below this amount would be paying 20%.
Someone on £98,841 is effectively losing out on £9714.20 net per year if the bandings had simply moved in line with previous multiples relative to minimum wage.
This is one of the reasons why the middle class is being eroded and why there's a cost of living crisis in the UK.
An increase to £13.20p/h equates to a minimum wage of £27,456, based on a 40 hour week.
Once you factor in employers NI and basic pension contributions, the MINIMUM cost to hire a 21 year old for a company would be £31,461.
This is before you factor in any overarching business costs like office space, laptops, phone, software, training, support staff, vehicles etc.
This is going to be devastating to SME's who cant put together a simple 12 month budget without the goalposts being moved & their margins squeezed.
It'll also be catastrophic to youngsters opportunities because businesses will simply not be able to afford to hire them.
What's also incredible is that anything above £50,270 is seen as 'high earnings' in the UK and is taxed at 40%!
We are governed by financially and economically illiterate morons.
This will not end well.

People assume that technology, once seized, will keep operating the same way it did under the engineers who built it. It will not.
Those who have never built anything treat technology as lifeless objects that can simply be taken. The moment they do, what they hold is no longer living technology. It is a corpse that begins to rot.

Obviously @woodhaus2 we need a levitating Roadster to hold us over until the real one comes out.

What I love about Tesla is that they don’t need content creators. Content creators need Tesla. They don’t need to invite people with millions of followers when literally someone with 5000 followers on 𝕏 could post something and it could go viral with 25 million views.
The algorithm these days doesn’t give AF that you have millions of followers and neither does Tesla.
Their products sell themselves and typically they are so viral any random clip has the potential to reach millions of people. Tesla doesn’t want a $50,000 camera and someone with an attitude. They want humble people genuinely excited about the future.
I didn’t even get invited to the Roadster event and I was hyped in my living room just watching it. Nothing ever crossed my mind that this is fake or this will never happen.
We have self driving cars. We have rockets that land themselves. Why wouldn’t the flying Roadster be possible?

Standard UK mentality. I woke up at 6am yesterday and was buzzing at the fact someone tried to move the world forwards. I looked on the BBC website and there was nothing about it. Only stabbings, banning porn and something about more taxes. The thing is, this is what people obviously want to read. Moan fuel.

Great news everyone, Sean has cracked the fuel crisis 🤣
Forget EVs, renewable energy and reducing our reliance on oil.
The answer was staring us in the face the whole time…
A hybrid that still needs petrol 👏
Apparently, doing the first 30-ish miles on a battery solves the problem.
There is, admittedly, one tiny flaw in this genius plan…
After those 30 miles, it needs fuel.
“But if you charge it every night, most people could do their daily driving without using any petrol!”
Excellent point.
I’ve just invented something even better.
A car you charge every night that doesn’t have a petrol engine at all.
I’m thinking of calling it an electric vehicle.
And this is exactly what happens when we’ve had years of poor education around motoring, EVs and how different powertrains actually work.
People have somehow been convinced that relying on a battery for 30 miles is perfectly sensible…
But relying on a much bigger battery for 200–300+ miles is apparently a problem.
If 30 electric miles covers most of your daily driving, why spend the extra money carrying around a petrol engine, fuel tank and exhaust system for the rare occasion you might need them?
Saving 30 miles of petrol is nice.
Not needing petrol at all seems like a slightly better solution to a fuel crisis.

RUMOR: Sony is said to have sent out a survey to developers asking them about how they feel regarding ending physical media, suggesting they are considering backtracking on the decision🚀
“There is a survey Sony sent out to developers that is, what I was told by my contacts, a bigger survey than they’ve sent almost ever before.
There was a question in it trying to ask in a not-direct way: Is there an issue with not selling games physically, asking developers for feedback on killing discs.
Wolverine is still selling plenty of physical copies and Sony is starting to ask devs if they are worried about killing physical, suggesting that if they got a bunch of feedback, maybe they would consider some sort of mea culpa.”

earn £100k in britain and every pound after it is taxed at 62% until £125k. got a student loan? 71%. in socialism scotland it's 69.5%, or 78.5% with the loan. it's essentially a salary cap.
then at £100,001 you lose the 30 free childcare hours and tax free childcare on the spot. not tapered, gone, for every kid. a £25k pay rise across that band puts £9.5k in your pocket, before the nursery bill goes up.
so everyone with any sense stashes it in the pension and stops. or drops to four days. or goes to dubai.
tell me a more anti productivity policy than that

For anyone else upset about Revelation not being fully on physical media you can contact Square Enix directly here (If you're in the US): support.square-enix-games.co…
Yeah, yeah, people will surely chime in with their 2 cents that "it will do nothing" as always, but if you do care about this and prefer to do something instead of nothing at all, this is one way to do so.

An update on FSD Supervised in Europe
FSD is currently approved in five EU countries (NL, DK, BE, EE, LT), used by >70k customers for over 1 million km per day, and is 4.1x less likely to get into a crash compared to manual driving, measured across 100 million km on public EU roads.
Leading up to a potential EU-wide approval vote for FSD Supervised on October 6th, 2026, we have decided to open-source one of the key pieces of evidence used to support the Netherlands approval.
As a reminder, we adjusted the FSD design to be compliant with existing regulation (UN-R-171 DCAS) but requested an exemption for certain behaviors via the EU Article 39 procedure. The following dashboard is evidence of safety for those exemptions.
This exact dashboard was shared with all EU Member States in April 2026, shortly after RDW’s approval, and all data presented is from before that date.
tesla.com/fsd-evidence-dashb…
European countries recorded 19,400 road deaths in 2025. That's around 53 deaths/day, with the vast majority of these crashes attributed to human error. These deaths are largely preventable with technology we have today.
FSD Supervised is already saving lives where it’s approved – yet in much of Europe, that safety benefit remains locked behind bureaucracy.

IF Metall cancels industrial action against Tesla
IF Metall has ended all industrial action against Tesla’s Swedish operations.
The union claims Tesla bought out striking members rather than accept a collective agreement, calling it unprecedented.
But the reality is that IF Metall itself encouraged its remaining members to seek buyouts from Tesla.
After 1027 days since October 27, 2023, the conflict is over.
Tesla Sweden can now reconnect around 300 charging stations within weeks. @MdeZegher
All suppliers can resume work for Tesla. Employees can return to work with relief, no longer dodging picket lines or facing harassment from union guards.
No more police interventions at Tesla sites because of pickets.
Tesla staff can finally breathe easy and go to and from work in peace.
