I think “never repeat yourself” has damaged more codebases than duplication ever did. Developers see the same five lines twice and immediately invent a generic abstraction with 14 parameters. Sometimes repeating yourself is cheaper than being clever.

We have arrived. Where do you go next when you believe that some people are genetically inferior in a dangerous way?
Replying to @cremieuxrecueil
Genetics have a massive effect on propensity to violence

The problem with people like this is that they have not read or watched any science fiction at all.
the problem w/ people in silicon valley like this, is they haven't updated their priors on what it even means to be an american, and they likely ignore news cycles except for mainstream agitprop. most of their worldview comes from the 2010s, favoring globalist/open-source norms.

In case you are curious how things like naziism take hold. We are seeing it now. It starts with this belief that certain behaviors are hereditary. Then leads to the natural conclusion that some people are genetically superior to others. And we’re not going to genetically test everyone— it’s much easier to link superior genetic traits to easily discernible phenotypes like skin or eye color. Viola! Now we have a master race, eugenics, and a moral imperative to purge the blood lines.
You don't get social peace unless you're willing to permanently incarcerate -- or eliminate -- the worst 1% of society.

The fact that Trump and Musk hate Anthropic so much makes me think it must be pretty good.

Seahawks get to face the Boston college offense when they make the Super Bowl when the 49ers had to face the Illuminati with satan himself at QB. Twice. 😂

We criticize what’s clean because it stands out, & ignore what pollutes because we’re used to it. Wind turbines are called eyesores, while smokestacks get a free pass. That’s not aesthetics — it’s status-quo blindness. Change looks ugly only to habits it disrupts. #Bettrification

Putting wheels on the cross to make it easier to carry is prob the most American Evangelical thing ever. All of the victimhood but none of the sacrifice.

Hard to express enough how much Musk, the world’s richest man, has become indistinguishable from a random Stormfront poster.

Folks. It’s time to start talking about what we need to do to remove Elon Musk from his companies. It’s not going to get any better.

Here’s Elon’s father casually saying Elon’s maternal grandparents were in the Nazi party in Canada, supported Hitler, and moved to South Africa because they strongly admired the Apartheid regime. 🤷‍♂️

It’s wild that Elon’s mask is now fully off, forget about any speculation from the salute, he has fully come out as a white nationalist from his own words. And yet, there plenty of people and institutions that are perfectly happy being fully invested in him, even at a 300x price to earnings ratio with declining earnings. At this point, if you are invested in Elon, you are pretty much doing it for the white nationalism lol🤔
Musk agrees that white people must "reclaim our nations" or "be conquered, enslaved, raped, and genocided." He also agrees that "if white men become a minority, we will be slaughtered," and that "white solidarity is the only way to survive."

Elon Musk is now advocating for the execution of elected officials. Not normal.

When I go to turn on a new feature in Reminders — an app the made BY Apple— it gives me this dialog to go turn on permissions in order for it to work. Am I the only one that thinks Apple has gone too far with its crazy permission structure? At this point just about anything a program needs to do can’t be done without adjusting permissions.

we’re reaching unprecedented levels of Silicon Valley Guy brain: they’re re-discovering affirmative action from first principles
A crazy idea would be a mandate that federal funding for universities can only happen when/if the ideological balance of its professors are within +/- 20%. Any institutions that opts out/takes zero funding from the federal government (ie from taxpayers) can still do whatever they want. Assuming neither side is more wrong nor right, the debate and ultimate quality of students coming from schools with more ideological balance would be meaningfully better I suspect.
