I love how George Santos only bothers to call out "political theater" when its time for his swan song. Up until now, he was more than happy to be part of the cast.
It once again shows that our representatives understand the problems yet lack the courage to address anything.
The worst part about people being so willing to spread horrible, negative misinformation is the fact that they WANT to believe the stuff. If they didn't want to believe it, they would fact check it or be more careful about sharing it. Instead, they seem to root for tragedy.
"...Gaetz shot back. 'Thoughts and prayers to the former speaker as he works through his grief.'"
Has there ever been a clearer signal that for many "thoughts and prayers" is cynical lip service meant only to placate those in pain and fuel personal ambition?
In all seriousness, wouldn't it violate Federal Labor laws to set someone's salary that low? Unless, of course, they work no more than 8 minutes per year?
My kid has a "couch potato" dress up day next week. That surprises me because by looking at them each day, I would have guessed that "couch potato" is the school's official dress code.
What the CEO of United fails to understand is that the vast majority of consumers who have a rewards program with their credit card only have it or want it because we know we're overpaying at the register due to high fees and we want a bit of it back.

The House GOP is looking pathetic. They're the kids that run around picking on and teasing other kids, all the while not realizing that everyone is laughing at them and not with them.
Jim Jordan disgusts me. If he were to hold up expedited aid for Israel as a reason to bow out and make way for a moderate Speaker, I'd commend him. But he's using this tragedy as a lever to serve his own ambition.
What a sorry excuse for a human being.

What does it say when Jim Jordan thinks 90% support from his Republican colleagues should entitle him to the Speakership while 96% support for McCarthy meant his ouster?
I can't think of a better allegory for Congressional dysfunction.
A Speaker of the House that doesn't respect the body enough to comply with their legitimately issued subpoenas?
No thanks.
Our healthcare system makes people choose between health and wealth.
Want healthcare? How does poverty suit you?
Don't want to be shaken down for your every last penny? Go ahead and roll the dice with whatever ails you.
Who benefits the most from the Speakership debacle?
Me thinks it's Putin.
It sure as hell isn't America.
Oh good. AI trained on the combined wisdom of Facebook and Instagram posts. Finally, the AI we deserve.

I wonder if future archeologists are going to be angry with past archeologists for disturbing or destroying all the artifacts they could find during their time.
I think the overlap between "can't" and "won't" is far larger than most people are willing to admit.
If you're running for state or national office and you're not talking healthcare reform and energy policy, there's zero chance I'm voting for you.
If your side's strategy for winning elections includes a huge effort to ensure certain people can't vote, you've made it plainly obvious that your candidates don't have everyone's best interests in mind.
I click on the "trending" feed whenever I'm feeling a little too at peace with the world. Cures that problem every time!
