If you replace the characters in City with monks half of those skits just become koans that you can meditate over. What a beautiful show.

“Hakuin had worked for 30 years on a book of poems. He submitted the manuscript to a publishing company, an editor who had read the manuscript stopped him. ‘Are you Hakuin?’ Hakuin nodded. ‘I want to publish your poems. They are so beautiful.’ ‘No thank you’ replied Hakuin.’”

I still think about his line delivery of “Is this all ridiculous? Is my family ridiculous?” As he stares her down. It’s so chilling, what a picture.

Reading Ulysses before reading The Odyssey is so funny because there’s been five times today where I thought “Ooohhhhh that’s why Joyce writes like that”

Reading The Odyssey feels like listening to gossip. So many lines are “And then I saw X who cheated on her husband” followed by five more lines on that before getting back to the main plot. Just to do so again another two lines down.

Actors, podcasters, musicians, etc, ought to have some monologue, poem, passage from a book, whatever, memorized. So when the sound person eventually wants to test a mic and asks“Can you speak please?” You don’t just don’t just go “Uh..yeah talking… speaking…”

I and my dear friend Jay have put together a beautiful film which you'll have the chance to watch soon. If you like movies about sad lonely shut-ins failing to communicate with each other, and the color blue, you're in for a, uh y'know, a good time !

Not that far into reading The Odyssey but so far Mentor doesn’t really do shit that’s all Athena, we should be saying “Ah yes, when I was studying under my Athena” instead.
