Freedom for all.
We celebrate Hanukkah with our Jewish friends and pray that the menorah shine its light through the darkness to bring peace and safety everywhere.

In his remarks, Consul General Sanders said “It is an honor and privilege to join you here today in celebration of this joyous holiday symbolizing perseverance and the triumph of light over darkness. Today, I join your community, and millions of Jewish Americans in the United States in celebrating the hope and promise of this season. May the light of this holiday shine brightly in your homes and spirits. Hanukkah Sameach!”

We lit the first #Hanukkah candle in Hampstead today.
Even in the darkness hanging over because of today’s murderous rampage, the Menorah’s light burns bright, and the Jewish people stand proud and unbroken, like the Maccabees before them. Chag Sameach!

Joyeux Hanoucca!
Hanukkah Sameach!

Just last week, I joined 200 mayors from across North America for the Combat Antisemitism Movement to discuss the rising trend in antisemitism across our nation. It was a powerful and eye opening 48-hours as we focused on what our Jewish community is facing in America.
This morning, I am deeply saddened and outraged by the horrific violence reported at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney. This hateful and antisemitic act stole innocent lives during a moment meant for peace and joy.
There is no place for such violence or hatred in our world. Today, as our community gathers for a menorah lighting here in Sioux Falls, we do so with heavy hearts and firm resolve — standing in solidarity with the victims, their families, and the Jewish community in SD and around the world, and reaffirming our commitment to unity, compassion, and standing against hate in all its forms.

Will Montreal’s Mayor-elect continue to be harassed for her support of the city’s historic but beleaguered Jewish community? Please see below this example of venomous Jew hatred in the pathetic but fashionable guise of anti-Zionism.

This reprehensible act has no place in our society. Justice will be served.

Hampstead is the third largest Jewish community outside Israel with more than half of its residents being Jewish.
An Israeli flag at town hall is called solidarity and effectively makes the constituents of Hampstead feel seen in a time where the community is under attack. 🇮🇱🇨🇦
Jews are beat on the streets in Montreal and shouted at, it’s extremely out of touch to be talking about where Israeli flags should and shouldn’t be in a time where Jews are not safe.
An Israeli flag makes Jews feel seen and safe because of our connection to Israel. More signs of safety that are related to our identity like an Israeli flag are needed. Not less.

Congratulations to the town of Hampstead and its mayor @jerlevi for standing on the right side of history in condemning Canada's intent to recognize a so-called "State of Palestine". This is a positive step in the fight for freedom and democracy @CdnPressNews
Last night, the Hampstead Town Council, standing shoulder to shoulder with its people, unanimously condemned Prime Minister Mark Carney’s reckless plan to unilaterally recognize a so-called ‘State of Palestine.’ No prime minister has the right to hand legitimacy to terror in our name or to trample on Canada’s historic bond with Israel and the Jewish people. Hampstead will not be silenced, will not bow to Ottawa elites, and will never abandon truth or principle. Our message is clear: if the government will not lead with integrity, then the people will. Hampstead has lit the flame, and now we call on every town and city across this nation — rise with us, stand firm with Israel, and proclaim with one voice: Am Yisrael Chai — the people of Israel live, and Canada stands with them.

A heartfelt congratulations/ felicitations to my good friend @jerlevi and his Town of Hampstead Council. Last night, they stood up unanimously to approve a resolution condemning Liberal PM Mark Carney’s plans to reward terrorism and satisfy his Hamas Wing by recognizing an autocratic State of Palestine before a supportive full house of residents at their monthly meeting.
The message supporting their large Jewish population comes in the face of increasing hate and aggression from useful idiots for Iran and other provoking agents who are running full speed to demoralize, intimidate, and isolate. The Resolution is morally clear, principled, and unambiguous. Other municipalities wishing to be on the right side of history should take notes.
Well done!

Am Israel hai🇮🇱
Last night, Hampstead roared with history. Our council chamber was filled to overflowing, not with fear, but with fierce resolve. Families, neighbours, friends stood shoulder to shoulder, defiantly proclaiming that the Israeli flag will not be torn down, burned out, or silenced. It flies because our community demands it, because we will never bow to hate or intimidation. Council is but the vessel — the people are the power. And last night, the people spoke with one voice: proud, unbreakable, eternal. The flag of Israel flies in Hampstead, and no act of malice can change that. We stand taller, stronger, prouder than ever. Am Yisrael Chai.

This is a burned Israeli flag.
It was raised at Hampstead City Hall — a Montreal suburb.
Whoever did it thought they sent a message. But Hampstead sent a stronger reply.
And tonight a brand new 🇮🇱 flag is waving Shabbat Shalom to the city — and the jerkholes who destroyed it.
