One of my favorite White House traditions was telling Thanksgiving jokes – which at least I thought were funny.
Here’s a look back at some of my favorites:
Was so fun to see Lauren in her childhood dream.
While I was in NYC for the marathon, I got to stop by my publisher’s office. Please indulge me for a little story time because I’m living my little 8-year-old-self book-nerd dream.
In Feb ‘20, I sat in this room and pitched my book to @penguinpress.

15 years ago today #RyanShay died competing in the 2008 USA Olympic Trials Marathon in New York City (held in November, 2007). A gritty runner with a sense of humor, he was the 2003 @usatf marathon champion. I really miss him.

Malcolm @Gladwell is someone I’ve long admired for his ability to bring research and data alive with story. In GOOD FOR A GIRL I use my personal story combined with research to get below the skin of readers. When we truly SEE, we can care and act. Thanks Malcolm for this blurb!
It hurts a lot and doesn’t just go away wtf

When President Clinton banned assault rifles in 1994, mass shootings dropped by 43%. After Republicans let the ban expire in 2004, they increased by 243% — please don’t tell me bans don’t work, because I don’t want to hear it. – at Los Angeles, CA

Like everyone, I’m beyond sickened by today’s news—the 27th school shooting of 2022?!? Elementary school kids?!? Enough with the fucking gun nuts, the NRA lobby, and the cowering legislators captured by the right. The American experiment isn’t just failing—it’s in free fall.

Across the country, parents are putting their children to bed, reading stories, singing lullabies—and in the back of their minds, they’re worried about what might happen tomorrow after they drop their kids off at school, or take them to a grocery store or any other public space.
