π AI Overviews Appear on 82.5% of US Brand Searches - Here's what to do and what it means for your SEO & AI Search Strategy by Yulia Deda / @SERanking π
* The most searched brands trigger AI Overviews less consistently.
* AI Overviews rely on the homepage half as much as organic results do.
* After the homepage, AI Overviews most often cite product-related and company information pages.
* About 3 in 5 brand pages cited in AI Overviews donβt rank in the top 10 for that search.
* 61% of AI Overview citations come from platforms brands manage or take part in.

Marketers reporting strong content results just hit a 10-year low.
βThe quick takeaway is that people mostly just sort of abandon the things that work well in content, which is not good. Itβs sad. Iβm worried. The things that worked still work, but thereβs just fewer people doing them.β - @crestodina
β[The reason is] disinvestment. People looking for shortcuts. I think that good work is hard. And the things that work are things like weβre doing now, like collaboration, the upgraded formats like the Siege Media and the Orbit Media approach, original research, publishing new data. These are things that we all know have worked well forever, and for some reason theyβve been set aside.β
βThereβs a huge drop in exactly the strategies that drive outcomes and a rise in the things that tend not to.β

Cloudflare has deployed default web application firewall (WAF) protections for newly disclosed PHP vulnerabilities before public disclosure. The rules use request and response signals to stop exploit attempts and prevent exposed data from reaching attackers. cfl.re/488w8dc

Can you leverage "Anchor Context" for SEO?
Google tells us to place <links> in relevant context, but most folks don't realize how Google can use those signals to evaluate links and ultimately rank webpages.
A patent by Anna Patterson and Paul Haahr (two titans of Google search), "Ranking based on reference contexts" explains how Google can utilize RARE words before and after the anchor text to determine context
Google can then use this context as a *distinct* ranking factor
Googleβs API leak documents attributes that measure this exact thing: fullLeftContext, fullRightContext, and context2 β defined as βa hash of terms near the anchor.β
Patterson and Haahr explain that Google can rank pages βbased on the number of different contexts associated with the linksβ
More diverse + relevant contexts = good.
On the other hand, if a lot of "contexts" look suspiciously similar, Google could label the links as spam
Importantly, Google talks about finding the "rare" words around the anchor text - words found with greater frequency than the rest of the page.
Most peopleβand link-building platformsβfocus on anchor text and stop there. But context can be important!
Twitter - "PATCH ALL THE THINGS OMG"
Facebook - "Why are websites down?"
...this is why I stay on Twitter.
SET UP Salience. Now.
They contacted me, directly.
A good example of why we built Salience.com and why real-time server log monitoring matters.
Following the recent PHP2Shell vulnerability, we spotted suspicious scanning activity across several websites were monitoring.
Around 20% of monitored sites received exploit-shaped requests, with some activity starting before a patch was even available.
Most requests were blocked at the edge, but a small number of sites warranted further investigation. We've already contacted the affected clients.
Its a useful reminder that server logs reveal activity you wont find in Google Analytics or Search Console, including requests blocked before they ever reach your application.
Security wasn't the primary reason we built Salience, but its another practical benefit of making first-party server data accessible and actionable.

We launched an MCP. You can now access @get42agency 's agency knowledge on demand inside Claude, Codex or GPT.
It's built on our learnings, wins and POVs. Ask it for a Meta ad angle or a RevOps audit plan.
A friend ran a Claude skill on it to write Meta ads against vanilla Claude. Ours won a blind test.
First 5 people get free access for feedback. Best for earlier-stage companies that can't hire a full-time marketer or an agency and want a co-pilot on demand gen, creative and RevOps.
Comment "MCP" and I'll figure out how to get you access.

Welp one upside to the ai slop cannon is we're getting more backlinks than ever
Every vibe-coded startup seems to be following a playbook where they write tons of comparison articles and listicles and if you're an established player you'll be on there
