I created this book!
Despite comments such as, "Yeah right, kids can't (or shouldn't) learn this," I regularly receive emails from parents telling me that their kids love the book and have successfully figured out how all the pages work.

Those moments are truly amazing.
Today my internet went out while I was teaching and when I returned a student was sharing his screen and continued on with the lesson. These are the moments that make me feel hopeful about my future in education ♥️. #teachertwitter

The wild thing about this title is I believe educators had a year to take advantage of what it means to be "innovative" in education. New layers added to pedagogy and learning simply because we had to do it and in the process, get better through resilience.

I actually got into an argument with a woman who has taught 35 years about the importance of school identity and how what a faculty does should mirror who they say they are on paper. When schools don't do that, they're coming up short.
What I found disturbing about the discourse was how quickly the other person moved to their experience, what they read, what they knew, while saying, "You must not have new to education and have limited experience."

I am a teacher. And a union steward. In America’s 5th largest school district. Teachers unions are made up of teachers - to improve our working conditions.
A teacher’s working conditions ARE a student’s learning conditions. Stop demonizing people who chose altruism for a career
