I'm on Twitter to understand different sides of a story, get both unbiased & sometimes biased information, so I come to better conclusions. I don't offer 100% follow back. I follow likeminded people who interact here respectfully. Strictly no religious fanatics & sanghis/bhakts.

India's female suicide rate is double the global average. It is especially high in southern, more developed states. Dandana et al (2023) find that it's mostly housewives, citing family problems. pdf.sciencedirectassets.com/… I'd add, southern states also register high tolerance of gender based violence and divorce stigma, Many women may feel trapped.

"Names of 13 crore people have been removed from electoral rolls. The matter has been pending in the Supreme Court for many months and not one meaningful order has been passed. What has happened as a result? Young students and activists, civil society people have taken to the streets and having a peaceful march. What has happened to them? They have been beaten up, pushed into police vans and it is happening right under the nose of the Supreme Court which under the Constitution has been entrusted the power to safeguard such rights of ordinary citizens": Justice Rekha Sharma

Serbian case must be a serious case study... So much parallel to how BJP has/is ruling!
WATCH: Serbian police withdraws from central Belgrade after Aleksandar Vučić's ruling party loses power to the student-backed Student List.

📺 “We reported events one-sidedly for years”: Serbian TV apologizes to viewers after Vučić's party loses the election Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening. “For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said. Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned. A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.
🎉🎉 Serbia celebrates Vučić's defeat all night — now he's warning the country about sanctions against Russia After 14 years of Aleksandar Vučić's political dominance, his bloc has lost the snap parliamentary elections. The opposition Student List, which emerged from mass anti-government protests, has claimed victory. According to preliminary figures from Ipsos and CeSID, the students secured around 53% of the vote, while Vučić's coalition received approximately 39%. The former president acknowledged defeat. He estimated that the winners could secure 135–140 seats in Serbia's 250-member parliament. But he couldn't resist issuing a warning about Russia. Vučić claimed the new government could impose sanctions on Moscow as early as March or April. Meanwhile, Belgrade and other Serbian cities celebrated the student movement's victory throughout the night, with car horns, singing, and crowds cheering in the streets. Final election results are still pending.

Karnataka’s final electoral roll has been published today, with nearly 99 lakh names removed, bringing the state’s electorate down to 4.55 crore. The impact of SIR has raised serious concerns about the exclusion of minorities, the poor and marginalised communities from the democratic process. My appeal to every citizen of Karnataka: Please check whether your name is on the final electoral roll. If your name is missing, apply again using Form 6. I also urge all Congress Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to actively support every voter through this process. No eligible voter should be left out of the electoral roll. Every citizen’s right to vote must be protected. 🔗 Check the final electoral roll here: voters.eci.gov.in/download-e…

Today at the restaurant I was having tea, heard a commotion outside, went out & saw an old homeless man on the floor. Looked like he had an epileptic seizure. Both workers & guests of the place trying to help him. No one was filming, everyone genuinely concerned. Then I saw,

one of the waiters slowly opening the man's bag without anyone seeing. Before I could get a good look at this guy, he slipped in a ₹200 note into the bag, zipped it back up & went inside as if nothing happened. People with the least are always the most generous 🥹

Direct proof that gutkha kills.
Spitting gutkha from his third-floor balcony may have cost a 65-year-old man his life after he reportedly came in contact with an 11kV high-tension power line in Ganjbasoda, in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district, on Friday afternoon. At least 61,059 Form-7 applications seeking the deletion of names from Karnataka’s electoral rolls were filed by election officials themselves, with not a single application mentioning a reason for the deletion, a mandatory requirement under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. ✍️@pon_vasanth and @rishitaakhanna thehindu.com/news/national/k…

If @MEAIndia had the slightest of shame, you wouldn't have ignored (or orchestrated) the attacks on Indians inside India & gone on to issue statement on shit happening in another country.

Just heard that Aswin Restaurant at Infopark Expressway Kakkanad maybe closing. The landlord is planning to construct a larger complex there, so restaurant may shift or close down. It was a nice place to have food since we moved here, with ample parking & friendly staff. 😢🥺

If you were curious, you would have asked who started Kashi cafe and why ! You would have heard about Anoop Scaria, Anand Scaria and a little space in Fort Kochi that became a home for artists, thinkers, rebels and dreamers. You would have heard about Cochin carnival and asked, oh they started that too ? You would touch Ammachiyal (huge banyan tree) in Parade maidan and go back in time when he and friends planted a sapling. Then another 10,000 such. You would have discovered that Kashi was never just a café. It was a place where art, ideas and people could converge freely. That eventually led to Biennale that we see now. But you weren't curious, were you? You were too busy judging what was on the menu and whose photograph was on the wall. As Ted Lasso says: Be curious. Not judgmental.

Beef on the menu. Jinnah and Gandhi inside. What message is Kashi Hotel in Fort Kochi trying to send? Provocation or a calculated attempt to inflame tensions? Secularism is not a one-way street. Keralam cannot allow appeasement politics to normalise divisive symbols or radical agendas. To the IUML: Keralam is NOT Pakistan, nor will it ever be. Kerala will NOT surrender to radical extremists or fringe forces. Enough of double standards. 🇮🇳

Irony is that, the installation of Gandhi Jinnah is part of a larger art work called Duroohatha (mystery) where artist speaks against political violence from 1947 to 2012. Gandhi Jinnah imagery is to highlight how words sparks ideas vs passions that started violence of 1947
