to be introduced at config '27, i hope
the thinking and context behind your work deserve a home in figma. specs gives you, your team, and your agents a place to make sense of it all, right alongside your designs and code.
it’s still early, but i’m super proud of this one. we started incubating it shortly after joining figma, and it’s been a blast :)
rolling out in beta to paid plans now!
the only moat left is a medieval defensive excavation, typically filled with water, created to impede siege operations. and design.
i highly recommend sitting next to @nikolasklein and waiting for the inevitable "wanna see something cool?"
you'll do your best work in a tool that allows you to be whimsical, too!
🔊🔊🔊 — lol i've lost hours building fun stuff like this with code layers…
@figma code layers starting to roll out into open beta TODAY! incredibly excited to see what you'll cook!

Meet Specs, a way to build rich context with your team, right on the Figma canvas. Bring the brief, designs and technical details together, so your teammates and AI agents can understand what you’re building (and why).

the question most younger kids are asking in this age of AI:
what is the squishiest squishy out right now? 🧈
feeling lucky to have had a frontrow seat to the work behind figma design agent. it’s early, and there’s still lots to make better, but the care that went into it was inspiring to witness. also: compared to where it was just a few months ago in beta, it’s night and day.
check it out!
Excited to share that today Figma agent is available to everyone! We built it to help teams get into creative flow and stay there, making it faster to get started and raising the ceiling on what's possible. Less time doing the dishes, more time making something special.
It's been one heck of a journey getting to this point, navigating a fast-changing landscape of technological possibilities, and an even faster-changing landscape of what we and our customers expect the product to be able to deliver.
There's still so much more to do, but I'm proud of the starting point we've made: combining the power of a coding agent with the speed and flexibility of the collaborative canvas. Once you've worked with agents visually, with your teammates, in real time, it's hard to imagine anything else. Building something great has always been a team sport.

This was one of those projects the team & I were fiending for since I joined @figma. There's always been this fundamental tension between an infinite canvas, touch, and a phone screen size -- but we believe it should be as easy as navigating the photos app on your phone
Lots of other little wins here too like exporting assets to your phone and sharing links to an exact frame! Check out the app when you get a chance: figma.com/downloads/

An idea I've been playing with. Develop. A photo app that acts just like a film camera: film rolls, no instant previews, double exposures, you gotta wait for the film to develop, you get your photos in a beautiful envelope, each photo feels special. Save to your camera roll or send to a friend.
this is wild. one of the coolest and most meaningful events and organizations in hip hop.
i still cherish my @bhorowitz signed copy of the hard things about hard things from 12 years ago!
Ben Horowitz and Erik Torenberg with Nas, Steve Stoute, and Grandmaster Caz on the Paid in Full Foundation
Caz penned rhymes that became Rapper's Delight. Even with his name in them, he got nothing.
The Paid in Full foundation honors the people who created hip-hop by making sure they're "paid in full," financially, spiritually, and culturally.
As Nas points out, money alone reads as a handout. So the grant comes attached to the honor. Each year at the foundation's Hip Hop Grandmaster Awards, pioneers are celebrated by the artists they inspired.
Caz ultimately received a five-year grant, bought a house, and left the projects. In his words: "The thing is the honor. The thing is putting you in the light that you deserve to be in."
Ben says he bought Paid in Full (the album) for $10 and got at least $5 million worth of value out of the record, with no way to pay it back.
The vision is paying the debt. Felicia Horowitz runs the foundation. She and Ben are matching donations 2.5 to 1, and every dollar goes to the artists.
