Undocumented people, and immigrants in general, shouldn’t have to “prove” our worth for our humanity to be recognized.

This fall, two Crimmigration Clinic students @hlscrimm travelled to New York to argue in the Second Circuit Appeals Court in front of a three-judge panel on behalf of their client. Read their story on the blog: clinics.law.harvard.edu/blog…
Great reminder from @Jeopardamy that visible allyship is very important to shaping society/continuing to make progress.
Knowing when and how to disrupt transphobic/homophobic narratives is key - and then doing it!

14 students killed in an elementary school shooting in Uvalde, a heavily Latino city in Texas. Border Patrol also on the scene. I pray for those parents fearing that their kids are dead and debating whether or not they'll be arrested if they go to find out.
Great thread. Was true ten years ago. Still true today.

Students used to enter my classes w simplistic notions about saving the world. My job was to break those ideas down+lead them to more nuanced understandings of social change. Now, students enter class believing nothing matters, and my job is to show them ways change is feasible.

law twitter: does anyone know if any other schools give either academic credit or compensation for being on a journal? I’m trying to see something
Lessons:
-(Law) professors don’t know everything & they’re just people so taking their statements with this in mind is key
-Disrupting harmful narratives in classrooms is necessary
Related: disrupting harmful narratives in classrooms is emotional labor and allies are key

there’s a way to address the ways the loss of abortion rights will and does impact cis women without positioning it as an issue that only impacts them. nonbinary/trans/gnc folks exist and are often also directly impacted by abortion laws and rulings.

The 1973 Roe decision was decided 7-2 and written by a Nixon appointee. The 1987 Casey decision upholding Roe was written by a Reagan appointee on a Court w/ 8 justices appointed by GOP presidents.
Rejecting Roe as “egregiously wrong” 50 yrs later = a radical, political act.
Had a great conversation with a stranger/now friend/ about our role as the “adults” in today’s youth’s world.
Four take-aways:
1-We are guides, not rule-makers.
2-We are the best sources of support when we guide with love, rather than fear.

So many of you reached out to me after I published this essay. I wanted nothing more than for my 71-year-old dad to retire from his job as a hospital janitor, work he did at the height of Covid. His retirement hinged on my steady employment. thelily.com/i-am-my-fathers-…
All I could think about is children’s songs that have creepy messages because they’re about the plague or something tragic like that …
