Earlier this week, we ventured down to attend a @XavierMBB practice at Cintas and came away very impressed. Here are some thoughts and we will go more in-depth next week on College Basketball Weekly. - First time in Cintas Center and chills went threw my spine walking into the arena. Will be back for a game for sure and awesome enviroment. - Always loved the @XUCoachPitino hire and year 2 will see the Musketeers compete in the top half of the Big East. - Easily our favorite practice to watch as Pitino is part Billy Crystal and Andrew Dice Clay. Coach had us laughing with some of his comments. - The key to the success of Xavier is at least 5 players have played in the Pitino system whether at New Mexico or Xavier plus Kalek House's brother played for Coach at New Mexico. Retention is HUGE - talking about Freshman Kalek House...he is not your average freshman. Mature and quick with nice handles. We can see him being a contributor from Day 1 and he could be big time. - Mike Nwoko is a BEAST. Transfer from LSU who averaged 13 points and almost 6 rebs a game. He could be all BIg East First team and has the potential. - Ruben Dominguez can shooooot the rock and huge addition to spread the floor and fill the bucket. Texas A&M transfer who shot 40% from three point range. - We have been HUGE Tru Washington fans for years. Guy is a human Swiss Army Knife. Can do it all and score from anywhere. plus a solid defender. - Jovan Milicevic is just a ball player and so dynamic. Best days are too come. - Filip Borovicanin will take another step out there and looks really comfortable. Smart player and knows the system. - Really play as a team so early on and really good movement. - this is an NCAA Tournament level team and will be fun to watch. X is going to give it to you!! - Great fan base and looking forward to a BIG SEASON out of Xavier Basketball.
