I marvel at Indian Express 2.0’s sudden turn around & its newfound courage in launching these direct investigative strikes. In all likelihood much of this confidential information is being leaked by a senior disgruntled muckraker within the BJP itself.
Three years ago, PM Modi inaugurated the 3,200-crore Surat Diamond Bourse, calling it “the best diamond in the world” and an example of “Modi’s guarantee” for Surat.
Today, the “world’s biggest office space in a single project” is a largely empty shell.

The real test of India’s commitment to Kashmir lies not in how forcefully it asserts that the region belongs to the country, but in how convincingly it demonstrates to the people of Kashmir that they belong to India and India belongs to them.

The decision to join India was rooted in hope. Therefore the question Kashmir poses to India is not merely about security, constitutional arrangements or territorial sovereignty. It is about the promise that shaped the hopes and aspirations of generations of Kashmiris when the decision to accede to India was made. @MehboobaMufti

Nearly eight decades after accession, Kashmir remains one of the most heavily militarised regions in the world. Security forces guard its roads, towns and villages, and their presence permeates everyday life. While military deployments along international borders are intended to guard against external threats, the extraordinary security presence within Kashmir is experienced by many of its inhabitants as a constant reminder that they are themselves treated as potential threats and live under a constant cloud of suspicion.

Have been part of the careful and eco sensitive development of Pahalgam as tourism secretary and secretary to CM when we developed Betab valley, Pahalgam Golf Club, Club building, sewage system and parks and gardens. It’s personally heartbreaking to see vandalism destroy it all
Heartbreaking to see Pahalgam, a paradise on earth deeply loved and cherished by Mufti Sahib, being ravaged by reckless, almost vengeful construction under the patronage of those in power. Nature’s priceless heritage is being sacrificed for quick profits, pushing its fragile ecology to the brink.
God forbid Pahalgam suffers a catastrophe like those witnessed in Uttarakhand or Nepal, leaving this paradise in ruins. Who would visit it then? The judiciary remains our last hope to intervene before this looming disaster becomes an irreversible tragedy.
