📰 Academic press releases play an important role in the dissemination of new research, but are basic and applied research distributed alike?
@jingwenzhang77, @RodrigoCostas1, @marinajoubert & I studied this question for a new paper in @JsciCOM 👉 jcom.sissa.it/article/pubid/…
🔎 We also explored the similarity and readability of press releases compared to the titles & abstracts of the research papers mentioned. Here, we find a stronger adaptation in the case of publications in basic research.
📚 All of this and more you can find in our new paper published in the special issue ‘Communicating Discovery Science’ in @JsciCOM! 👇jcom.sissa.it/article/pubid/…

Anyone who has ever tried to recollect Twitter data might have realized: tweets can be volatile.
But how much so?
@fang_zhichao, @RodrigoCostas1 and I took a closer look at a set of tweets mentioning research on #COVID19.
@cwtsleiden #altmetrics asistdl.onlinelibrary.wiley.…
Tracking a set of 37,918 such tweets over 56 days, we find that unavailability rose from initially 1.6% to 2.6%.
However: 30.5% of the unavailable tweets became available again later on, highlighting the dynamic nature of Twitter data.
