It was a tremendous honor to share this panel on neo-colonial ideology with these amazing colleagues at the #ISPP2024 conference last week. Incredible and inspiring work by @ZoeBertenshaw, @eriverapichardo, and the ever-so-eloquent commentary by (twitterless) Ana Figueiredo

b) Yet this protest was depicted as purely political by some. Isn't scientific scrutiny what we are all here for? How would political psychology be possible without critical assessment of claims—particularly those oblivious to power dynamics?

c) It's quite evident to anyone that attending ISPP with a framing (not data!) like this is like entering the lion's den, in *intellectual* not physical terms. So what is so surprising about people calling out rationally flawed theoretical framing that is politically problematic?

Many colleagues gathered outside the room to oppose the author's views (not evidence). I also heard the author did not show to his own talk. I was at the conference and talked to a few people involved afterwards. What surprises me the most about this: 🧵
Disappointed to see this talk in the program at #ISPP2024. It normalizes the ongoing occupation and genocide in Palestine. How did this get accepted? @PolPsyISPP

a) Why did the author not show up ? I was not in the spontaneous demonstration, I learned about it after it happened but I would bet my liver that he would have been confronted according to scholarly norms: Critical rational debate. 1st thing in qstion is the quality of the work
