To be fair, this kind of proactive communication wasn't something we were used to seeing from Sonic, and it's good to see that changing. But what matters even more is the agreement itself. “A long-term partner with an established network, working to expand Sonic's reach and engagement.” There's a bigger picture here than simply moving 13 million tokens. Remember the $25M Resonance Fund? It was announced with big ambitions, but the collaboration eventually ended, with the allocated sonic-3:native returning to Sonic. That's why I care more about what partnerships actually deliver than how good they sound when announced. This is not Sonic's first deal, and I certainly don't expect it to be the last. Since @MattVisser stepped in as CEO, Sonic has been moving toward a different vision. Every ecosystem eventually develops its own characters. On @SonicLabs, one of them has been running around since the Fantom days. His name is @hedgycoin. 🦔 Crypto has produced thousands of memecoins. Most don't stick around long enough to need birthday candles. Keeping the joke alive for two years is the hard part and this little hog has been unusually busy. Behind the memes, $HEDGY has supported real hedgehog rescue efforts and gradually built its own little ecosystem around the character. Then there are the HEDGY Hogs, a collection of 1,000 NFTs connected to a DeFi strategy on Sonic, where farming rewards are distributed to holders while a portion is compounded back into the strategy. Which is not where I expected my research to go. I came across a hedgehog memecoin. A few tabs later, I was reading about DeFi strategies and wildlife rescue. Not exactly what I expected from a little hog on the internet. Beneath all the charts, speculation and endless timeline noise, crypto is still made of people. And sometimes those people decide to rally around a tiny hedgehog and do something good with it. That's the kind of weird I hope sonic-3:native never loses. Almost two years later, $HEDGY is still here. The meme is alive. The hogs are safe. Maybe that's already a pretty good story... ✌️
