Hey @krushowy @ColinDMello @TinaYazdani - this graph should be front page news, going into back-to-school season! People deserve facts, not spin.

Minister of Education @PaulCalandra is asking Ontario teachers- who are quite busy teaching/setting up classrooms/preparing for the new school year- to help HIM fix the portal that HE created?
His Ministry office alone has 20 staffers!! Surely some of them can help?

I was given my name by the Iroquois Nation many hundreds of years ago. By 1660 my name was printed on maps by the Europeans as they accepted the Native name which means Beautiful waters.
In 1867 the Canadian government decided to use my name for their providence.

I hope people stop to reflect on this moment.
We are reeling under the worst air quality on the planet because of a forest fire that was mismanaged by Doug Ford: he cut firefighters while his ministers billed us the taxpayers for lavish hotels and parties.
We need an election.
We can't wait 3 years.
This government has to go.

WARNING: What Lecce is proposing is a private company managing electricity in Ontario. Capital Power is a private electricity provider from Alberta that has the HIGHEST COST OF ELECTRICITY in Canada. Consumers in AB pay over twice what Ontarians pay now. BEWARE.
Capital Power is an important participant in Ontario's energy buildout, responsible for over 1,700 MW of capacity — from battery storage to natural gas.
Ontario is committed to building a swifter regulatory environment that continues to attract investment and confidence.
That was the basis of our discussion with @CapitalPower CEO Avik Dey and Vice President Matthew Davis to discuss expanding energy partnerships, including our small modular reactor partnership with @opg, as we work to meet growing energy demand.

NEW: we’re learning more about the cost of “Protect Ontario” ads to taxpayers.
FOI records show the cost for just one ministry to produce & run them last year was nearly $10 million.
The total the Ford government has spent across all ministries is expected to be much higher.

I’m not a lip reading professional but did Doug Ford call Marit Stiles a “bitch” ? It certainly looks that way.

The Ford government's $750 classroom gift card gimmick was insulting and admits that our schools are underfunded.
Asking teachers to buy classroom supplies is like asking nurses to shop for medical supplies before work because the hospital can't provide them.
Now we learn that $300 of the promised $750 isn't even new funding - it's being taken from existing education dollars. That's not an investment in public education. It's a shell game.
Ontario students and educators deserve properly funded classrooms, not government announcements that sound bigger than they really are. #onpoli #onted

Moments ago: NDP leader Marit Stiles demands an apology from Premier Doug Ford for “betraying the people of Ontario” during this 29-day session.
“He spent their money on a luxury private jet… sold out the Toronto waterfront… & changed laws to hide his cell phone records.”

NEW: Ontario’s education unions are officially serving notice to bargain today.
Among their demands:
• smaller class sizes (capped at 24 students for grades 4-8, and 26 for kindergarten)
• ending mandatory e-learning for high school students
• spec ed investments

Ontario doesn’t need to “wait until the next election” to speak up.
People are angry for a reason.
Doug Ford’s Ontario has become a province of scandals, secrecy, privatization, and broken public trust.
The Greenbelt scandal.
The Ontario Place/Therme spa deal.
The Science Centre fiasco.
The private jet controversy.
The RCMP investigation.
And now attacks on transparency itself.
This government weakened public access to information and transparency protections, making it harder for journalists and the public to hold politicians accountable. Democracy depends on openness not secrecy.
Meanwhile:
🏥 Public health care is being privatized while ERs close and hallway medicine worsens.
📚 Public education is overcrowded and underfunded.
🏠 Housing is unaffordable while homelessness explodes.
💊 ODSP recipients are being left in poverty.
👩⚕️ Nurses, teachers, and frontline workers are burned out and ignored.
🛣 Developers and insiders keep getting special treatment.
Ontario deserves leadership that puts people before political insiders, developers, and backroom deals.
Enough is enough.

The Ford government says it is addressing capacity pressures inside hospitals, even as a new report finds a sharp spike in ER wait times is putting patients at risk.
The majority of hospitals are also forecasting budget deficits.
We ask the health minister about the findings:

Doug Ford just gave himself a get out of jail free card by changing the law to hide his phone records.
But I'll tell you what I told him: when the RCMP come calling, they don't bring freedom of information laws. They bring a warrant.

BREAKING: The Ford government just voted to fast-track a law that would permanently shield Doug Ford’s phone records from the public, keeping you in the dark about how your tax dollars are being used.
Watch this video where I break it down.
