I feel like the sticking point for mastodon adoption is going to be a lack of algorithmic timeline I feel like techies underestimate how many people don't literally just want a chronological feed of posts from known entities

Tech people essentially want an rss feed which is why there's so much "it doesn't matter which server you pick, you can just go to your hand-picked federated timeline!" discussion going on I think there's a huge set of people who don't care about that usecase at all
do I have to pay $8 to turn off the new twitter update injecting annoying VCs onto my timeline
