Laura Davison, NUJ general secretary, said: “Instead of drip-feeding cuts, we urge BBC management to support calls for investment to secure the broadcaster's future. It is incumbent on the government to intervene in the Autumn budget and #BackTheBBC.” nuj.org.uk/resource/bbc-cuts…

And here we have it. They've all got the memo to attack ITV. Reform are Temu Trumps, attempting to stifle public interest journalism.

I’m investing £100m in our creative industries to make the West Midlands the best and easiest place in the UK to make TV and film. I visited the set of The Cadburys and met local people doing brilliant work behind the scenes. One lived ten minutes up the road. Another was from Dudley. One told me that, for the first time in eight years, they could finish work on set and sleep in their own bed that night. That’s what I want to see more of. More opportunities for local people to build careers in an industry they love, right here in the West Midlands.

Yes, Joey. She’s a democratically elected British MP, a former council leader, and she’s wearing a hijab. Which part of that do you find so difficult to accept? Her politics are fair game. Her religion and her clothes are not.
Can you believe this is actually a member of Parliament in the United Kingdom now? Look how she decided to dress for her first day.

How can the BBC invest in a headquarters in Digbeth, yet consider moving The Archers out of Brum? When we secured that investment, losing shows was never part of the plan. After 75 years, it is part of the WM's heritage. The BBC must reconsider. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crpd…

Even The Archers is not immune to cuts as BBC looks to save half a billion pounds over 2-3 years
The BBC has shelved plans to build a new bespoke studio for The Archers in Birmingham as part of its wider drive to cut costs, opening up the possibility it could be recorded outside of the city for the first time. Greg McKenzie looked at the issue on #BBCBreakfast bbc.co.uk/news/articles/crpd…

Well said @Bobby_Alden - the @BBC produces far too little in Birmingham as it is. The Archers must stay here!
Shocking to hear that @BBC plan to reduce investment into #Birmingham and move our beloved The Archers out of the city. I have written to the Director General demanding they reverse the decision.

The Archers was born in Birmingham and is a key part of our broadcasting heritage. I’m very disappointed by news that the BBC plans to move its production out of the city. The BBC has made clear commitments to growing its presence in the West Midlands - especially with the move to the Tea Factory. So, moving one of its most established programmes out of the region sends the wrong message. We have the talent and the facilities here. There is no good reason why we should lose a programme that has called Birmingham home for decades. I’m meeting the BBC’s Director-General, Matt Brittin, this week. I want to understand the reasons behind this decision and discuss every available option to keep The Archers here. The BBC promised to invest and support our regions, this is entirely the opposite of that. And it can’t be allowed to happen. birminghammail.co.uk/whats-o…

University leadership is not meaningfully accountable to anyone. They should be accountable to a commission of local councillors or similar like fire authority. Yes i understand academic freedom .. its not exactly thriving at the moment.
