Presidential Message on Reformation Day: From the earliest days of our Republic, prayer and faith in Almighty God have stood as the foundation of our strength, the source of our unity, and the fount of our greatness. This Reformation Day, I send my best wishes to the countless Christians across our country commemorating the Protestant Reformation and its enduring message of salvation by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Five hundred years ago, William Tyndale — inspired by the work of Martin Luther — advanced the Protestant Reformation’s devotion to Holy Scripture through the publication of the first New Testament printed in English, shaping the language of the Bibles that would fortify the faith and resolve of America’s founding generation.  The Sacred Scriptures helped form the religious convictions that formed our young Nation’s founding ideals of God-given rights and individual liberty, a spiritual inheritance we honor as we continue to reflect on 250 glorious years of American Independence. The Bible remains a cornerstone of our Nation’s character and upholds our steadfast devotion to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Guided by an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, my Administration is working to restore the moral and religious foundations that have sustained our Republic for generations. As President, I will always support citizens of faith and defend their place in the public square, honoring the enduring role of our churches in strengthening families, serving communities, and preserving the core values that have anchored us across the centuries. As Christians across our country unite in faith and fellowship this Reformation Day, I send my heartfelt prayers for a meaningful celebration and encourage each of you to draw renewed strength from God’s Word as we carry forward the blessings of faith and freedom throughout our beloved Nation. whitehouse.gov/briefings-sta…

Scripture alone. Grace alone. Faith alone. Christ alone. To the glory of God alone. On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther called the church back to the Word of God. What the Reformers recovered, they confessed in five convictions: Sola Scriptura: Scripture is the final authority over the church, its traditions, and its leaders. (2 Timothy 3:16–17) Sola Gratia: Salvation is God’s undeserved gift, never a wage we earn. (Ephesians 2:8–9) Sola Fide: Sinners are declared righteous through faith in Christ, apart from works of the law. (Romans 1:17) Solus Christus: Christ is the only Mediator between God and man, and his finished work is enough. (1 Timothy 2:5) Soli Deo Gloria: All of salvation, and all of life, exists for the glory of God. (Romans 11:36) More than five centuries later, these truths still mark faithful gospel ministry. The Reformers called the church back to the Word, and the Word of God remains the foundation of faithful ministry today. Happy Reformation Day!

Wilberforce wasn’t the organised superhero you think. He was late, disorganised, witty… and astonished by the gospel.

My backpack got pulled for an extra security check at the Manchester airport today. Honestly, I was a little frustrated by the delay. Then the security agent, Gareth, pulled my Bible out of my backpack. I joked, “Careful with that. It’s called the Sword of the Lord.” He looked at me and said, “I’ll treat it with respect.” That opened the door. Gareth told me he used to attend church but had become disillusioned after some painful things happened in his family. He still believes in God, but he struggles with church. So, while he searched my backpack, I got to share the Gospel with him. Before I left, I told him, “Gareth, I don’t believe it was an accident that we met today.” Pray for Gareth. People all around us are hurting. There are no accidental interactions.
There are Gospel opportunities everywhere.
Look for them. Even in the security line. 😀

I’m a @Bengals fan but think the hullabaloo over the @AtlantaFalcons logo is SILLY. It’s a great throwback and I hope the Falcons embrace it! Ignore the naysayers who learn history from memes and never waste an opportunity for outrage.

On 31 October 1517, Martin Luther famously published his Ninety-Five Theses challenging the practices of the Roman Catholic Church. After becoming concerned with the sale of indulgences he helped spark a movement that would change the course of history. More than 500 years later, the legacy of the Protestant Reformation continues to shape the faith and worship of millions of Christians around the world. To mark Reformation Day, we’re offering 30% off a wide selection of Christian Focus books until October 31st, from biographies of the Reformers and works of Reformed theology to church history and books for younger readers. My pitch… Someone write film scripts that breathe the same air as classic Bond, then change the org and name. Cast Pierce Brosnan as the mission director and Henry Cavill as the lead. Put out a movie every two years. You’d have a better franchise in a decade.
Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O’Connor are among the actors in the mix to be the next James Bond. They are currently doing final auditions. (Source: Deadline)

I address the allegation that Elisabeth Elliot was a "bisexual" in a column for WORLD Opinions today. The allegation is based on a tendentious interpretation of thin evidence and shouldn't have seen the light of day. There's a link to the full article in the thread below.
