"They believe they are in a place that Burnham will be comfortable with" ie still in Manchester
State of play from Andy Burnham allies They believe they are in a place that Burnham will be comfortable with. He doesn't want to be seen as pushing Starmer out in an undignified way. In addition they think allies of Streeting are trying to rush a quick leadership contest, which would not suit their interest But but but they believe in the process he has damaged his relationships with his allies One staunch Streeting ally told me he needs to get on with it. Streeting as ever he will be fearful of the old adage 'he who wields the knife never wears the crown' The health sec has the benefit of having strong relationships with the PLP and being in Parliament. All to play for

Evgeny Lebedev tells the FT the end of the Standard's daily print edition was "primarily, the shareholders’ decision… I really should have done it four years ago, but I didn’t… I tried, I tried, I tried, and it just didn’t stack up.” ft.com/content/c2872cf7-f887…

Last year, home insurer A doubled my price, saying flood risk etc had risen, so I changed to Insurer B. Insurer B just quoted a rise of 30 percent to renew, so I checked with Insurer A. It offered a third of the price it did last year, when I was an existing customer.
