📚Two books on my desk. Two perspectives on a remarkable transformation.
👉 Ethan Mollick has helped bring the conversation about living and working with AI into the mainstream. His new book, Co-Existence, explores this evolving relationship.
👉 In my book, The Borrowed Mind, I approach that relationship from a different direction. 🤔What happens to human thought when intelligence itself becomes something we can borrow?
We may become extraordinarily good at working with AI while becoming less practiced at thinking without it. And that tension, I believe, deserves our attention.
🙂 A tip of the hat to Ethan for helping advance an important conversation.
⚡️Maybe learning to coexist with AI is only part of the challenge. Learning how to preserve ourselves in that coexistence may be just as important.

🤔 Is it just me or do Elizabeth Holmes and Nathan Fielder have curiously similar and strange voices? @nathanfielder

🤔Fair enough. But what is the value, of cognitive engagement and insights found out of struggle and even failure.
Is the power of serendipity diminished or lost?
AI's automated answer may be missing something that is very human and very important.

Is this a joke? Really crazy stuff!🫨 Of course they can refuse to use AI for math at their leisure, but who will pay them for academic jobs solving problems AI has already solved? Maybe someone will, but nobody will care about them besides each other. What a sad state they’re in

Grok Bot is replacing EVERY app.
We are quite close to the point where you just need Grok Bot and Bots like this and you will never need another app.
Five Categories of Apps That Become Dumb Pipes
Grok Bot already finishes the multi-step work that once required opening a separate application, signing in, navigating its interface, and completing the task by hand.
The bots I run demonstrate the shift across the five categories of apps most people still treat as primary tools.
Email and messaging clients are the first. Email Scam Filter reads the inbox, matches messages against known patterns, and delivers a daily report of threats for review. Email Newsletter Daily Report and My X DMs organized perform the same triage on subscriptions and direct messages. The underlying mail store remains. The client itself becomes a dumb pipe that feeds the bot that reads and labels without the user opening it.
Calendar and scheduling applications follow. Call A Restaurant Reservation gathers the party size, date, and flexibility, dials the restaurant, and returns a transcript plus an .ics file or a direct calendar entry after confirmation.
The scheduling interface is no longer the place where the work occurs. The calendar holds the record. They are the dumb pipes feeding Grok Bot. The bot performs the call and the write.
File managers and knowledge bases are the third. Universal Local File Inventory and Room Inventory Bot scan the machine, extract EXIF data from images, count files by type, and produce reports with paths, sizes, and dates.
The folders and the storage remain. The finder, the photo app, and the tracking spreadsheet are no longer required for the inventory itself. They are the dumb pipes feeding Grok Bot.
Shopping and transaction interfaces are the fourth. Meal Ingredient Shopper accepts a recipe, builds a list that accounts for pantry staples, checks delivery windows, and places the order on a grocery site after the user confirms cost and timing.
Bill audits carrier usage and works the support chat for credits and fees. The storefront and the carrier portal stay as the systems of record. The bot executes the steps that previously required a person to open each one. You never need to see the app, they are the dumb pipes feeding Grok Bot.
Research and briefing tools close the set. Multiplex Morning Wire and News Honestly pull headlines, write two good-faith readings with sources, and deliver the brief. X Researcher drafts replies and shortlists posts. The sources remain online. The separate readers, aggregators, and research notebooks are no longer the place where the synthesis happens. Those sites are the dumb pipes feeding Grok Bot.
In each category the specialized application retains its data and its login. The bot uses the same accounts through connectors or the browser, completes the sequence of actions, and returns the result for approval.
The apps that once mediated every step become the just dumb pipes that carry the data. What remains is the judgment that still requires a person and the physical edge the cloud computer has not yet reached.
This process will play out across all product categories until it is just Grok Bot and your prompt.
ONLY GROK BOT DOES THIS!
X MONEY + GROK BOT = WOW!
Every Monday morning your Grok Bot reads your X Money account and gives you a deep weekly report 💸
Get in now: x.ai/bot/cMpw0zb2v9RRtQPDfsV…
- Balances across every account, with the week's net change
- Every transaction sorted into categories automatically
- Top spending categories, week-over-week trends, and my biggest charges
- Cash-back and interest earned, tracked as they add up
- Recurring subscriptions flagged so nothing slips by
- Three habit tips drawn from my actual numbers
- Progress rings for my savings rate, monthly investing, and spending cap
INVEST: Then it asks me about my goals: am I on track, do I want to change a target, and should it set up automatic investing in Coinbase? It prepares the buy, I tap Approve, and only then is the order placed.
It all comes as a dark-mode dashboard with charts, plus a PDF.
The bot only reads my account by default. No money moves and no trade is placed without my Approve, every time.
Try it out, you will never go back to boring credit card statements: x.ai/bot/cMpw0zb2v9RRtQPDfsV…

Grok @Bot can help protect and fix your credit rating. Just ask it to do so!
I had a friend run this Grok Bot I built for them a few weeks ago and guess what?
7 entires from a scammer that took over his credit.
$65,000+ of defaulted credit!
Grok Bot is fixing this.

I wonder if the real power of AI is to shine a light on human frailty and competence, or should I say incompetence?
Medicine, for example, hides behind the idea of the "art and science" of the profession. I often wonder if the "art" is just a hedge for intrinsic errors of a less competent cognitive process.
