"Is Trump Trying to Blow Up the Permitting Deal," asked Robinson Meyer 7 days ago, when Trump DOJ attacked Revolution Wind. Today, with yet another Trump attack on a fourth offshore wind project, the answer is clear. Meyer rightly said Trump was BAAJA's biggest threat.
SCOOP: Senate permitting deal on the rocks after Trump administration targets a fourth offshore wind project, New England Wind. @SenWhitehouse tells my colleague @kelseytam “This is how you blow up a permitting deal.”

Booming S&W production took ~15 points of market share from coal in 10 years in China. China's September 2026 S&W output of 211 TWh is more than 4% of US annual electricity production. China will produce more electricity with S&W in ~5 years than total US power.

New: People have expected monopoly utility companies to try to undermine the transmission reforms in BAAJA, based on their track record. Here’s some of the first concrete evidence of those attempts, from Oklahoma Gas & Electric, as obtained by @EnergyandPolicy (link to follow).

"Monopoly utilities are likely to try to kill transmission reform." "Here's how, and why, they've done it in the past." Utilities gave $150,000 to the Republican chair of the key House committee, and he wants changes in the "grid" parts of BAAJA. utilitywatch.substack.com/p/…

Alberta votes 76% against secession, despite Musk, Putin and Trump pushing for it. The secessionists did a lot better in places where the oil and gas industry is substantial. Canada now has another security reason to support clean energy. #energysky yahoo.com/news/politics/arti…

This is such an insane way to govern the country
Trump: "With Roger Marshall in the Senate, we will make year-round E15 permanent. But if Adam Hamilton is in, I'm not going it. That's it. I'm only doing it for him. That's a big deal for Kansas."

A massive TEXAS refinery shut down last year, taking 95,000 barrels a day of diesel capacity offline. But Senator Lankford blames CALIFORNIA??? California didn’t CLOSE anything. Two private companies made business decisions that probably look like bad bets now, given soaring refinery profits. Those refineries represented less than 2% of U.S. refining capacity — and only a FRACTION of that fraction was diesel. Trump’s war in Iran has rocked global oil markets. Stop playing games with the American people.
I’m a big believer in producing more American energy. California has closed two diesel refineries in the past year, affecting diesel prices and supply across the country. We need more domestic production, not fewer refineries. @POTUS is working to increase diesel availability and bring prices down.
