god knows how do sherpas walk uphill with so much ease; they carry anywhere between 20 and 100 kg in their bag and trek uphill i am at lobuche which is 4900+ mts above sea level, the air is thin, the climb from dingboche was only tough because of the strong cold wind, legs are not tired but it’s so difficult to breathe here people who live at this height must have an insane amount of cardiovascular strength; their genes must have been modified over centuries and every single person living on this land puts in an insane amount of physical labour, life is not easy but it’s so peaceful and worth the pain

We had the privilege of meeting a living legend, a son of the mountains: Pasang Dawa sherpa. He has summited mount Everest 31 times and has lost count of how many times he has climbed Ama dablam and other peaks Fortunately for my ability to speak to Nepali, i made a 51-year-old friend in Dingboche. He was born in this village, grew up in the mountains, and has devoted his life to them i didn’t take a picture with him because i didn’t feel worthy of sharing the same frame as him ,but this kind man told me we would meet again. I hope to spend some unhurried time together then. we exchanged texts later, and that means far more to me than a photo
