This summer, the 46th ICCC will take place in Denmark. As part of the conf., @carolhua.bsky.social and I are org. a symposium on chemical sensing using inorg. and hybrid materials (inc. MOFs). We would be happy to see contrib. from researchers at all stages of their careers.

Computer science is leading the way. Let's abandon journals, move everything to preprints, and evolve from there with some sort QC system that picks the good/interesting preprints (computer science does this via conferences). – at Bowral - Mittagong, New South Wales
Journals are dead. Every field need to abandon them. the peer-review process was always about selecting articles, not verifying them. Computer science has shown the way: open-prepublication (arxiv), allow the whole field to review and discuss the pre-published papers, then conferences select the most interesting one for live presentation and discussion with the peers.
Be like Finland. @DTUtweet should cut their deal with MDPI ASAP.

From a commercial viewpoint, Sci.Rep. has been a cash cow. It rides on the Nature brand, and has the longest list of editors I've ever seen. AFAIK anyone with a PhD simply can register. SN just has to sit and watch while the APC rolls in. It's the future of for profit publishing.

So she was first author on his key paper - in fact she's on most of his key papers, yet she didn't get the Nobel Prize, in spite of the fact they could have given 3 awards, not just 2. Explain to me how STEM is not institutionally sexist.
