We absolutely need to demolish and rebuild far less often - and start doing this without delay! Though the case for building vs not building new infrastructure such as HS2 is more nuanced - depending on whether it can save CO2 in the long-term.
Stop demolition, engineers say. There's carbon emissions embodied in your walls, roof and floor. bbc.co.uk/news/science-envir… @RAEngNews @ArchitectsJrnal @RIBA_London @burohappold @UniStrathclyde @imperialcollege

Great to see the progress on the third phase at #LauncestonMedicalCentre. Well done to the whole team for making sure it’s been fully operational during the works thus far - no mean feat, especially in a global pandemic! #pollard @SummersInman @assuraplc @hydrocknews

In the time it takes you to read this tweet, humans will have released about 6,000 more tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Many existing buildings (to the untrained eye!) appear past it, ineffective and undeserving of attention. Harnessing intelligent design to renew existing buildings can add enormous value – time, money, sustainability – versus demo and rebuild > linkedin.com/posts/expeditio… #RetroFirst
